Yes I've always thought casting Ali was a bad idea. Not for his abilities because he is one of the best right now. But just for the fact that he would have to carry a franchise for a minimum of 10 years and for a character who's not supposed to age he would surely be showing some signs of aging as he goes into his 60's. Guys like Sam Jackson might have something to say about that but not everyone is guaranteed to have genes that make them seem virtually ageless for 40 years. He might actually be a vampire.

I didn't realize Samuel L. Jackson was that old until I watchedDjango Unchainedwhere he played an old slave named Stephen. It's the old part that got me. Not the nature of the role. I thought he was aged up to play the character. But nope, he really was 63-years-old when he played Stephen in Django.

Not to get into an even bigger thing but, what's with Marvel constantly casting 50 yr olds as super heroes? Especially to move a franchise forward. I get trying to get talent, but ya gotta go younger. Plus, save some damn money. These budgets get blown up before a single scene is shot.

Ali is already older than Snipes was when he starred in his last Blade movie. Wesley was 42 in Blade: Trinity - Mahershala will turn 51 in February.

I hope it gets made one day... preferably not by 2040.

Mahershala Ali is quite good, but if this project keeps getting delayed, it is going to age him out of the role (he is already older than Snipes was when he started in the first Blade). They really should just let this project die, or bring Blade into a group project rather than a solo film.

There's only been one Blade. Only ever going to be one Blade.

I'm inclined to agree with you; I don't see the same energy, vibe being recaptured today. Perhaps in the next 5 years they can try again, of course with an all new casting, etc.

Oh wow, they finally let this movie rest lol. I wonder if there's a chance of us ever seeing Blade now.

At this rate a Midnight Suns movie might be the only way for Blade to appear

I really cannot believe they aren't gunnin for this movie or series. The fact that we STILL don't have a Ghost Rider in the MCU proper is pretty ridiculous. They do seem to be setting the table a bit, but time to get it goin for real. Blade, GR, Man Thing, WbN, MK, one witch from the show (Jen Kale maybe), with Wong and/or Brother Voodoo (who they've subtly set up pretty well) would be pretty good. And a little more cost effective than putting Cumberbatch in there.

It would be cool to see him in a Midnight Sons-like project with Ghost Rider, Doctor Strange, and other dark characters.
