Well after all that pessimism by us, I would like to say that I'm still hopeful. I do feel like it finally got through to them that most fans aren't little kids, and now DD is gonna be "more adult". And from the trailer it seems like it indeed IS! They put a lot on hold that was half baked, or un asked for. Things are starting to connect a bit more. Covid and the Strikes really did a number on everything but its recovering. So it's not all bad. In the meantime we have been getting some great figures, and I've really been liking the X Men comics for the first time in a long time. Doom is in charge of the real 616 and it should get interesting. So yeah, as big of a pessimist as I am in all things in real life, I am cautiously optimistic about the MCU. For all the warts, it is still better than not most of the time, not always, but more than not. Still seeing Cap 4 on Thursday, and still haven't scrapped my subs from the comic book store so yeah...I'm here for it!

I for sure agree that Feige needs to quit introducing ideas/ characters with no immediate plan to use them.

While he's at it, stop wasting our time explaining why a character is called their name and dresses like a super hero/ villain. We are way past needing 4 movies and a series to explain why the Scarlet Witch is the Scarlet Witch. Just call them by their names and put them in their dang costumes and be done. We get it. The Normies get it. We ALL get it. The quote from Giancarlo about wanting to "explore Sidewinders snake side"?...I'm like, why did the producers wait? We probably won't get another shot, and if we do, it'll be 2030. Just put the snake guy in his snake suit.

And for God's sake stop with the, look how dumb it would be to dress in the actual costume bit. It really is like saying, "hey comic fan...you are dumb for liking what you like!" Especially since the huuuuuge pop at most theaters when we FINALLY saw Wolvie in a fairly comic accurate suit with the mask on......

Ok I'm done, lol. Deep breaths...

Oh they've been telling us we're dumb for a long time now. Dumb for not liking a screenplay. Dumb for not liking a character they're forcing out front even though that character was never liked to begin with. Dumb for not liking the stupid changes they make to certain characters for clout. Dumb for not liking a plot and unnecessary dialogue that does nothing to progress the story. Dumb for not liking it when the actors attack the fans. Dumb for wanting the actors to actually look like the actual character. Dumb for having our doubts when they hire some 22 year old with a worthless Underwater Basket Weaving degree straight out of college whose career highlights are a few college paper editorials, some Youtube shorts and a couple of co-writing credits on a two episodes of Steven Universe who claim to be massive fans of the source material but are clearly too young to be fans of the source material and then put them in charge of a massive 100 million dollar budget. Dumb for not going out to see a massive budget project that they've tried to make very clear was not made for the fans. Dumb for wanting them to just shut up and make a good movie honoring the characters and tradition of the book. Dumb for basically not liking and agreeing with everything they do. Yes we're all the dumb ones. Never do they ever stop to wonder if it might be something they're doing wrong. To them D&W was just a wildly popular anomaly. And I really don't see it stopping any time soon.

I can see that but from what I see in the trailer and what the "professional predictors" are saying I see it this way: Mind wiped Bob for like 80 percent of the movie and they don't know why he's important but they just do, Void breaks free of the mind wipe and represents itself as Sentry for a while, eventually Void/Sentry reveals itself as the baddie and they fight him, eventually Bob retakes control of his own mind and actually becomes Sentry to end the battle and takes off to leave us wondering if and when we'll see him again in the MCU. And IMHO I think Feige probably isn't even sure when they'll use him again.

I can see them also sacrificing Not Taskmaster because it was a garbage take on a great character who among other things ruined what could have been a much better movie. And starting over and trying to do it right. And Red Guardian going out in a blaze of glory because David Harbour has a lot of irons in the fire right now and really how much of a future does an aging Captain Russia have in the MCU?

New trailer seems solid. Davidsteals the show, still not massively sold on the movie to be honest

It definitely seems like Sentry is in the movie for more than five minutes. Looks more like, act one: Bob, act 2: Sentry, act 3: Void. I've been wrong before, but it looks that way to me.

Also, everyone is calling that Taskmaster will.die right away, which I actually hope for cause that ain't Taskmaster. Maybe a tease of the real one would be nice, but that's waaay too much to ask for, it seems. But I'm really feeling like Red Guardian isn't gonna make it out alive either. Definite "honorable sacrifice" vibes goin on in this trailer.

I just wanna see a good representation of Sentry in this movie (and a figure of course) because as you said he's gonna be in the movie for a good while. As for Taskmaster it looks like she could die and that must have been one of the easiest decisions they had to make, given how crap of an adaptation it was. Give us the real Taskmaster.

Conceptually I see nothing wrong with this, it's even promising, Sentry does seem really interesting from the little that we see. I wonder if they gonna use mind wiped/forgotten hero idea for him and we actually see past where Avengers were team up with Sentry, or maybe he was the hero of MCU before Iron Man kick started it.

As for wave, I can see them doing two packs or 3 packs that can be Target and/or Walmart exclusive. Movie version of USAgent, Red Guardian, Elena, Ghost and Taskmaster were all Peg Warmers, so I can see the hesitancy Hasbro might have.

Where's the merch though?

I'll be honest, almost all of these characters have had figures before and none of them exactly flew of the shelves. I'd say the ones I got, I know I got heavily discounted. I could certainly see a Sentry figure being made but probably an exclusive or if they just decided to a mixed wave with stuff from CA:NWO, What If, Agatha and Daredevil. Similar to what we got with the Hydra Stomper wave.

Where's the merch though? I'm a little worried about the small number of MCU figures per new movie and the fact that Thunderbolts does not even have any Marvel Legends. We might not get the movie Fantastic 4 in Marvel Legends. They are my birthday gift this year if/when they show up. So, I hate saying this for a movie I am not excited for. Hasbro show us those ML Thunderbolts!

Oooooh Hasbro please please please can we have another entire MCU based wave with Sentry as the BAF?!

Says NO ONE!

I have a feeling they are going to miss the boat on these products. A 50/50 wave of MCU and Comic based figures with an Atlas BAF would be well in order but with the lack of MCU product they've been able to put out because they basically ignored the gold mine that was D&W I'm afraid they are going to lay every stinking character they can from the movie into one wave. And throw a few WM and/or Target exclusives in there with a BAF that could have easily been a single pack character. Basically another Eternals fiasco. That's what happens when you have too many characters in one movie and when you can't resist from doing the same MCU characters over and over again. We'll get another Bucky, another Walker, Yelena number three, another Guardian, another Not Taskmaster, another maybe different Ghost but certainly with no unmasked head sculpt, probably Bob in his prison uniform or whatever and Sentry will be the BAF for the 5 minutes he's going to be in the film smacking people around. Then they'll do a Valentina & Sentry with glowy eyes and glowy hands set as a Target exclusive and then they'll do a Red Guardian with an unmasked head and a waving hand for the WM exclusive. But they won't include the masked head sculpt. You'll have to get this one and the regular release to get the full experience.
