Be the first to watch Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World at home. Buy it on Digital April 15 and own it on Blu-ray May 13.
I'm so ready to watch this again. I really enjoyed it the first time and I really hope to unravel more things I liked in consequent viewings.
As far as figures and character designs I like and lack... I do hope we get a Leader eventually. I liked how they updated a version of him from the comics to look more grotesque in live action. Sabra and Sidewinder could be fun, but I'd rather wait for more interesting designs. Hulk could look more like ford, but I can live with how he looks in ML form as is.

Wow. I'm exactly opposite from everyone I guess. First off I did enjoy the movie for the most part. I will say I never liked Sam as Cap. I liked him just fine as Falcon and really thought he should have and could have gotten more respect as Falcon. The entire FalCap was from the most disastrous era in marvel. That being the ridiculously I'll advised ANAD. I almost vomit every time I think of it. FalCap has never been popular and he never could hold a series and it's silly to think a movie would do any better.
Now I though the movie was okay and left the theater somewhat satisfied but after seing it a second time and watching many older Marvel movies in between and other good current movies I just realized it was only because the MCU had set the bar so horribly low at that point. Especially as compares to W&DP which is technically MCU now but kind of stayed in that FSU space and most of the credit for it's success goes to RR & HJ involvement for it's success.
The acting I thought was really droneing and dialogue was boring. Ford could barely be heard or understood a times and never showed that fiery spirit Hurt did as the character. Until the few times he almost turned that is. Then eventually turned. I do like Sam's new abilities and I wouldn't so much say they were OP but completely necessary upgrades when considering he has no actual powers and he has to battle massively powered indiviuals like Rulk. He's basically a lower grade version of Iron Man. He depends on the tech to give him power. His new somber attitude was a let down. Yes I know he's got a legacy to live up to and a lot of responsibility on his shoulders but I liked his somewhat easygoing low key dry sense of humor that he had before. Just think they made him much to serious. Just do Sam but wearing the RW&B. Just do that. Leader looked absolutely atrocious. Why didn't they just go with the original design? Who keeps giving these clowns the green light to completely change up stuff at last minute? As a character he was fine. Just stupid looking. There I said it. Not calling out anyone in particular. Least of all TBN. One of my favorite lesser known actors.
I also agree it would have been great to have Rulk as a surprise but honestly it was necessary to use his reveal to help push interest in the movie because nothing and I mean nothing was tracking in he right direction as far as interest in the movie until that point. I mean I was going to see it and I know probably everyone else here was going to see it anyway but from my experience very few "regular" folk couldn't give a rodents derier. Seriously. Personally I think it was a good idea to put it out there in hopes people woul be more interested and the wait for word of mouth the catch on. Unfortunately that never happened. And by no fault of any of the actors. They all pretty much just did their jobs to the best of their ability and they kept their names out of the headlines. It was an okay movie. I just think it was a victim of Marvel's own creation of terrible movies up to that point.
Similarly I think DD Born Again has been great to this point yet the taste Marvel and Disney+ has left in the fans' mouths as of late just made sure people don't tune in. A lot of people I talk to are seriously just waiting to hear about how the series ends before they even start episode one. I will tell you though if he doesn't get to doing some serious Superheriong real quick I'm about to tap out until the end. Nobody tuned in to a superhero show to see a courtroom drama. Even the horrible She-Hulk show had some butt-kicking in every episode. Honestly it would have been better as a movie because they would have had to leave a lot of the courtroom on the cutting room floor in order to get to the action scenes. Dragging this on in so many episodes just leaves too much room for boring filler.

Yeah, my wife and I saw it opening night, and everyone in the packed theater seemed pleased. I went in with pretty low expectations though. I liked the Leaders plan, and the whole conflict of nations wanting Celestial Island was really believable. I thought Mackie was damn near perfect. And for the first time in decades, I didn't feel like Ford was phoning it in!! He was really good in fact. Liked the action and the suspense through the whole movie worked for me. My friend at work disagreed and thought the movie felt flat, but I did not.
Cons.
First and foremost, the adds spoiled the reveal of the Red Hulk that the suspense was building toward for the whole film, so I had to suspend a lot of disbelief. I understand why they did it, but it took away from the narrative.
The rest is my usual, "just do it right" stuff. The use of Archangels powers to make Cap "more badass" was lazy writing and now makes one of my favorite characters seem like a ripoff. Sam doesn't need flachettes or to stab with his wings, they already gave him all the Wakandan power he needed to be totally OP. I would also argue that the stabby stuff goes against Sam's character archetype. Giancarlo was amazing, and I liked all the scenes with him. But there was zero reason.to say he was Serpent Society at all. The director said they took the Society in costume out of the movie because it didn't fit the tone. He's right, so fine. But just don't Call them that. They could have been Roxxon mercs, or ex Hydra/Shield guys, or whatever. Just don't take something Away from future movies. And I felt like Dunphy was wasted, unless they use him again somehow.
All that aside, I had fun at the movies, which is the only real bar that matters to me that day. We'll see after a few dozen watches how I feel, but it ties up a bunch of loose threads and sets up a bunch more, so I felt like there was some progress with the MCU as a whole.
I am with you on most of this, Mackie was stand out, I personally love him as Sam Wilson, and always have enjoyed his portrayal of the character, it's believable, he's human, and he is a really kind and reasonable everyman who got a chance to be a hero, it's pretty important representation, his ability to relate to others is a great element in marvel films,
Ford did a really honestly surprising job playing Ross, and totally agree, I was shocked how much he acted his butt off here, he hasn't shown this much passion on screen in what seems like years, he was doing more acting then he was as Han solo or Indy, I agree the movie had a good feel, I was in suspense, I enjoyed the action sequences, the first fight scene had me in my first fight scene of Civil war feels..loved it,
I agree Red hulk should have been a susprise twist, but obviously it was a massive selling point for average movie goers, selling merch etc, Imagine this movie didn't have Red hulk on the posters or in the trailer...Nobody would give a hoot, it was a gimmick, but it was a good one in the movie anyways...played out well, Leader and his intentions were relateable, and the other baddies, their motives made sense, Yes Giancarlo acted way too good for what I expected, really the major players all did, they acted, it wasn't something I expected, but I guess that's what happens when you have some pretty serious actors in your Marvel movie.
I had no problem with the Giancarlo's character being Serpent Society, for two reasons, it introduces a new threat group at large to the MCU, clearly we will see more of Serpent, it sets up a bigger thing, and also remember there was a lot more Serpent stuff going on in this movie intially with Diamondback, Seth Rollins as somebody....but they cut it all, so a ton of the context was lost there, unfortunately.
somewhat agree with the really OP'd Sam in this movie, but I kinda feel as though it was necessary, he needed to be the most powerful character in his own movie, and as much as I'd have liked them keep him on the level they previously had, they needed that update to drive the belivablity of his capabilities up, I was fine with it, in the end we all know Sam used his real super powers to win the day.
anyways really liked the movie, Will watch again once it's on D+
Just so happy that Anthony Mackie got a chance to headline his own MCU film as Cap! love love it, he deserves it.

So I just got around to seeing Brave New World, I had not heard a lot of chatter online or IRL about it, so guessing nobody cared or saw it, which kinda made me feel sad, usually I see a Marvel movie opening day or about the next, but that's usually because I hate having things spoiled, and I had not run into any spoilers so I waited a bit.
Honestly I really enjoyed this film, a lot, it was a grounded film, something that we have been missing, It had amazing fight scenes (at least to get me going wooo) the beginning of this film had so much woo for me, I love Mackie as a character and what he represents, the any man can be a great hero, and he did that, it had good characters, and strong emotions, it felt like a poor man's Cap film, and I was all for it, It had sentimental moments, it overall just felt like a good superhero film , here's a guy being a good guy fighting a good fight vibe.
I could elaborate, but I won;t I liked it a lot, it didn't hold massive consequences but it also did...Anthony as Sam is just a thing I loved seeing getting a big screen event, and Harrison, Tim Blake Nelson, Giancarlo, they did great, it was subtle, but thats what I think I needed after so much Multi-verse wackyness....just gimme a dude who does sweet stuff with a pair of wings and sharp mind and a shield, some evil baddies doing ground level bad guy stuff.... It happened, I was Happy!
I'm liking the chemistry between these two and the apparent heel turn by Ross. It's very convincing, which means that it's either sincere, or his betrayal is going to be a real gut punch.

Shown below are new movie posters for various theaters for the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World movie which opens in theaters on February 14. The most interesting poster to me is the Dolby Theater one which features the frozen Celestial last seen at the end of the Eternals movie back in 2021.Besides that we all have a new promo video titled "It's Time" to share with your.

It's very derivative of Cap 2 and 3 and you know what? That's ok, cos the best comic book films/shows are the political thrillers. Always have room for those. Can't wait
