Electronic Arts And Motive Studios Developing A New Iron Man Video Game

Electronic Arts (EA) and Motive Studios have announced today that an all-new single-player, third-person, action-adventure Iron Man video game is now in early development at Montreal-based Motive Studio.
The team bringing this game to life is being led by Olivier Proulx. He has worked on past titles like Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and is joined by industry veterans including Ian Frazier, Maëlenn Lumineau, and JF Poirier.

The game will feature an original narrative that taps into the rich history of Iron Man, channeling the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark, and enabling players to feel what it’s like to honestly play as Iron Man.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with the talented team at Motive Studio to bring their original vision of one of Marvel’s most important, powerful, and beloved characters,” said Bill Rosemann, Vice President and Creative Director at Marvel Games. “Their experience delivering both established entertainment worlds and thrilling gameplay — combined with their authentic passion for the armored icon — will fuel our quest to deliver a love letter to a legendary hero in the form of the ultimate Iron Man video game.”

“It’s an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to make a video game based on one of the most iconic Super Heroes in entertainment today,” said Olivier Proulx, Executive Producer of Motive Studio. “We have a great opportunity to create a new and unique story that we can call our own. Marvel is encouraging us to create something fresh. We have a lot of freedom, which is so engaging for the team.”

Iron Man is the first of several new Marvel games that Electronic Arts and Marvel are collaborating on.

While done by EA, it is also being done by some of the guys behind Guardians of the Galaxy, so it could go either way. Hopefully it will be good and also not inspired by the MCU

I enjoyed Sega's movie tie in game fro what it was. It was fun to play as Iron Man for the first time since Ultimate Alliance and before that for me I think was all the way back to Captain America and the Avengers game. The controls were awkward but eventually I was able to get the hang of it. It was a decent branch off of the movie universe and had cool bosses.

I actually bought the PS4 VR game but never found the time to play it.

I too am cautiously optimistic for someone to finly make a great Iron Man game

It's just a teaser image from the company... I wouldn't read much into it.

I'm not really reading into anything at all. I'm just spitballing my first thoughts when I hear about an Iron Man game being in development.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this game. The armor design looks interesting, kinda like the MCU Mark 3 the comic Model 51 had a baby. I'm honestly more worried about the writing, and by that I mean the characterization. Most if not all Iron Man adaptations in other media since 2008 have leaned heavily on RDJ's portrayal as a blueprint, but in a "carbon copy" kind of way. I really hope Motive takes a look at the way Square Enix adapted Tony's character for the Avengers game, and then does the opposite.
