One Of The Original X-Men Comes Out As Being Gay...Does It Really Matter?

So apparently in the next issue of All-New X-Men #40 original X-Men team member Bobby Drake, AKA Iceman will reveal he is gay. Well to be precise Jean Grey helps him come out as being gay. Pages from the upcoming issue due out tomorrow hit the social media channels late last night.

Now those of you not familiar with All-New X-Men, this version of the team was ripped from the past and brought to the present day Marvel Universe where they have since set out on their own adventures in the present, co-existing with their older selves. So it remains to be seen if the older Bobby Drake will also come out as gay or if this is something that will be unique to the younger version. Either way the decision by Bendis and Marvel to turn a long established straight character like Iceman gay is sure to create plenty of controversy among the fandom, and while I personally could care less if a character is gay or not, stunts like this generally come off to me as a publicity stunt to try and boost sales more than anything else like telling a good story, but we shall see. I lost track is Northstar and Alan Scott still gay???
