Comic Book Legend And Co-Creator Of Spider-Man Steve Ditko Dies At Age 90

Jay Cochran - July 06, 2018
With great sadness we report that comic book legend Steve Ditko has died at age 90. According to THR Ditko was found at his apartment back on June 29 and that he had apparently passed away two days prior to that. The cause of death has not been revealed.

Ditko who was an artist was the co-creator of Spider-Man along with Stan Lee. Ditko is credited with being the one who primarily responsible for designing the red and blue costume for Spidey. Ditko also helped create other well known characters including Doctor Strange, Doctor Octopus, Sandman, the Lizard, and Green Goblin.

Sad news, indeed. Why didn't Ditko get to be the first artist on more early Marvel characters? Was Kirby that much better? Or was it just right time and place?

I was very saddened to hear about Steve Ditko's passing. In my opinion one the three pillars on which modern Marvel was built. He created one of comic book's most iconic characters with a look that's timeless and created one of comic book's most underrated characters. May he rest in peace.

Certainly without him we wouldn't have Spidey or Dr Strange. As much as Stan is the genius behind almost everything Marvel, Ditko was as important as he is. He didn't get as much attention or recognition beyond the fandom or the artists collective. He also helped create other very iconic characters. This is a great lossindeed.

Such sad news. From Spider-Man to Dr. Strange, Ditko made a huge mark on the comics landscape. I love that his visuals are splashed all over the first Dr. Strange movie.

Sad to hear we have lost such a marvel comic legend and especially a Spider-Man Legend. He has contributed to huge creative decisions for one of the Most beloved Marvel Characters.

90 wasn't a bad age to go and my thoughts are with his family
