Vita Ayala And Rod Reis Take The New Mutants On A Wild Ride

September 14, 2020
Vita Ayala makes their NEW MUTANTS debut this December, launching the book into a thrilling new era as the series’ new writer! Ayala will be joined by artist Rod Reis, a rising superstar who’s already brought his unique and kinetic art style to earlier issues of the hit series.
On the edge of mutant society, the younger generation of X-Men cut loose in the Wild Hunt—going big, blowing things up, and combining powers to see who gets crowned king of the mountain! In the aftermath of X of Swords, a mysterious threat has taken root on Krakoa. This ancient enemy is powerful, hungry, and all too familiar to the New Mutants, and it’ll take X-Men from all generations to stop it. Join Magik, Dani Moonstar, Karma, Warpath, Wolfsbane, Warlock, Scout, and more of your favorites in an unpredictable series that will explore uncharted territory of the new mutant status quo that kicked off in Jonathan Hickman’s groundbreaking House of X!
“The New Mutants (as a group of characters, and as a book) are the center of the Venn diagram of things that I love, and I am honored and stoked as all get out to be able to follow Jonathan [Hickman] and Ed [Brisson] on the title,” Ayala said. “The New Mutants are perfectly situated to start digging into some of the weird and dangerous stuff that lies just under the surface of the new Krakoan nation, to go poking at things that bite back, so expect them to be getting into all sorts of trouble… *ominous laugh*”
Be there for the next great X-Men saga when NEW MUTANTS #14 hits stands this December.

In Marvel.com, the first dawn of X titles all have an end year of 2020 except for Excalibur.....Meaning after Swords of X event, theX-men, X-Force, Marauders and New Mutants 'may' end to give way to another story arc.....surviving x-titles will includeHellions, Wolverine, Cable, X-Factor......and the new children of atom....2021 will be interesting
Theyre all continuing I assume. Marauders is still gonna continue with Kate trying to kill Sebastian. This one is just Vita Ayala taking Brissons place as writer of New Mutants. And theyre gonna be launching a few more books I assume one of them being whatever Al Ewing teased in Empyre: Aftermath Avengers with Abigail Brand & Manifold. Another would probably be the Moira X book. And X-Corp which is teased here and there.

Sounds interesting but part of the description is giving me some bad Avengers Arena vibes

I do like the lineup of some forgotten characters and some little used characters. Seeing as the team has no real heavy hitter on the team, right now would be the perfect time to return his powers to what they were when he was an original member of Cable's X-Force, rather than these lame, generic, overall athlete powers he's had for the last decade or so. All teams need a "strong guy".
Magik is pretty powerful, she definitely could give Cable or scarlet witch a run for their money. As far as brute physical strength Warpath is no slouch, Cable put him in the 75 tonner range. Not thor or hulk LEVEL but still very strong.

Edit: regarding Warpath as the brute strength.
Where all the Old Mutants at this point..... Lol.
But honestly, this looks like a really good cast.
