Don't remember that one myself, but also I won't pretend I didn't missed a ton of things happening in the comics at various points.

Guys it his 50th. They doing this to celebrate it by showing off the various versions of him. They did a similar thing to cqp, Iron Man, hulk etc.
Seriously. They also already did this in X-Force post-messiah complex. Just took the Wolverine character from each X-Team (x-23, wolvesbane, Warpath who just got his special knives) and put them in their own book. Moves like this are what caused marvel to kill him off for a few years
Marvel Executive #1: "We need a new idea for a comic book."
Executive #2: "What if we took a really popular character like Wolverine and like made more of him. Then the multiple versions of that character from like different universes or something meet up and form a team of some sort."
Executive #1: "You mean like we did with Spider-verse?"
Executive #2: "No no. This is different because it is Wolverine."
Executive #1: "Sounds like we've got ourselves a totally original and creative story concept! I think we deserve raises!"
*Marvel Executives then proceed to laugh hysterically as money rains down from the ceiling.
