According to
The Hollywood Reporter, both Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes have been tapped to direct Marvel’s Disney+ series Ironheart with Ryan Coogler and his production banner, Proximity Media joining the creative team.
Ironheart, Marvel’s Disney+ series featuring the titular Iron Man-adjacent character is being toplined by Dominique Thorne. Also, cast along with Thorne are Anthony Ramos and Lyric Ross. Thorne will play Riri Williams, a brilliant teenage inventor who, in the comics, builds her version of the Iron Man suit in an MIT dorm.
Williams debuted in 2016’s Invincible Iron Man No. 7 and was created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Mike Deodato. At certain points in the comics, she even takes over for Tony Stark as Iron Man; in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr., heroically died fighting power-mad Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.
Chinaka Hodge will serve as head writer of the series as Bailey will direct episodes one through three, while Barnes will helm the back half, episodes four to six.
Coogler, along with his Proximity cohorts Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian, will serve as executive producers alongside Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, and Zoie Nagelhout. Hodge will also executive produce.
