According to a recent article from
Variety, Marvel Studios executives gathered in Palm Springs in September 2023. During this gathering, the executives engaged in discussions regarding the future of Kang the Conqueror, a character who was initially intended to be the primary antagonist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, due to Jonathan Majors' ongoing legal situation and impending trial for domestic violence charges, uncertainty surrounds the trajectory of Kang's involvement.
Variety's article reveals that the executives have contemplated a shift away from Majors' portrayal of Kang in the upcoming phase of the MCU. Instead, they are considering focusing on Doctor Doom, a notorious villain from the Fantastic Four franchise.
Nevertheless, this proposed idea presents challenges as Majors' rendition of the character has already been introduced and established in the Loki television series and the upcoming film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, set to release in 2023. Additionally, Majors is slated to assume the role of the primary antagonist in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, scheduled for release in 2026.
One prominent industry insider, who has had the privilege of viewing the conclusive episode of "Loki," expresses concern over Marvel's predicament with the introduction of Kang. “Marvel is truly f--ked with the whole Kang angle and they haven’t had an opportunity to rewrite until very recently [because of the WGA strike]. But I don’t see a path to how they move forward with him.”

Yes he is; he was my pic for Dr. Strange before they announced who would be playing him. Funny that it turned out that he would be in the movie, just not playing the lead.

I think that momentum is lost so replacing him with Doom wouldn't be a bad idea, they just need to give a Kang proper and memorable exit, they can even still call it Kang Dynasty since Doom and Kang are related in comics or they are variant of each other etc.
I heard a rumor that Kang was actually supposed to be victorious in AntMan 3 but it was switched and reshoot.

Well hes related to Reed, and both Reed and Doom have copied his council of multiversal versions of themselves idea. It wouldnt be too hard to switch. But I say dont derail the plans that much and just replace him. Apparently they arent bringing John Krazinski back for F4, and weve seen Loki so we already know its not unusual for variants to look a bit different from one another. Just recast a Kang prime

Last I heard, they're scrapping that altogether. It went from "announcement" type article to "rumor" later....so that with a grain of salt.
