by Outsiders
July 20, 2013
The following are the highlights from the Marvel Studios panel that presented Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Kevin Feige is the first to hit the stage.
Tom Hiddleston is here and in his Loki costume!
Tom is in character as Loki. He just told someone to kneel.
"Claim loyalty to me. And I will give you what you need."
"Say my name." LOKI chants!
Loki left the stage saying "It seems I have an army..,"
Captain America cast and crew hitting stage now.
Now Kevin's talking about what's next after "Thor: The Dark World," namely "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." He's introducing directors Joe and Anthony Russo! Frank Grillo, a.k.a. Brock Rumlow, is also there, with Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Sebastian Stan (Bucky/Winter Soldier), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), and Chris Evan (Captain America)
Chris is talking about how it gets better every time he puts the Cap suit back on. "It's satisfying knowing that the movies are good." He's talking about how good it feels to be a part of such a quality enterprise.
"It turns out Marvel knows what they're doing." - Chris Evans
Chris is talking about how Steve is adapting to the modern world, where it's harder to know what's good and what's bad than in the time period he's from.
Chris Evans is talking about the more grey areas of life nowadays and how that can be tough for Steve Rogers.
Chris and Scarlett really share this movie, according to Kevin. We got to learn a lot more about the Widow and what her life's like
Chris Evans describes Cap and Widow's relationship as being "an odd couple"
Jackson says Fury views Cap, Widow and the other as "co-workers, subordinates, tools of justice," but that he cares about them. Him and Cap understand each other, they're both soldiers.
Jackson says Nick Fury "has a pretty good idea" of what's going on, and can usually suss things out if he doesn't know something.
Sebastian Stan was very happy when he found out the Winter Soldier was going to be the heart of this movie
Kevin says they keep really close to the particulars of the character of the Winter Soldier from the original Brubaker story
Anthony Mackie is talking about Falcon. "I got wings and guns. That's all you need, right?"
Mackie says Cap 2 is all about Cap and Falcon "handing out the business for 2 hours."
Kevin started talking about what made the Russo brothers perfect for Captain America 2, and he says instead of telling everyone, he's just going to show them.
Footage is shown... And the footage is over! Now the Russos are talking about Robert Redford. The film's tone is derived from '70s political thrillers, and Robert Redford was a part of that.
Joe Russo started collecting comic books when he was 10, so working on this is a dream come true.
Now Cobie Smulders is talking about Maria Hill. This movie picks up after "Marvel's The Avengers," in a world that's dealing with the revelation of these bigger threats out there. SHIELD and Maria Hill are trying to find their way in this world.
Emily Van Camp is talking about Agent 13 now. She says it was intimidating coming into this role, but she's a great character to play.
Cast can't reveal too much about CaptainAmerica. I know that feeling.
Anthony Mackie is stealing the show in this part of the panel.
The Captain America cast is heading off the stage for a photo...
Kevin is talking about going for new, fresh and cool. Onto Guardians of the Galaxy!
Guardians of the Galaxy cast/crew here!
Kevin's talking about how they've been coming to Comic-Con since 2006. They're constantly thinking about how long they can keep each movie franchise going, and he says that as long as it's fresh and new, they can keep doing it. So they want to do new things, like Guardians.
Director James Gunn! Michael Rooker as Yondu! Djimon Hounsu as Koranth! Lee Pace as Ronan! Karren Gillan as Nebula! Beneicio Del Toro as the Collector!
JamesGunn, Karen Gillen, Michael Rooker, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Benicio Del Toro, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana
Dave Bautista as Drax! Zoe Saldana as Gamora! And Chris Pratt as Star-Lord!
And, of course, Chris Pratt aka Star-Lord
James Gunn is joking that Benicio Del Toro is calling him "Smelly McPits" because they just got off a plane from London, and now they're leaving again tonight.
James Gunn is talking about how he was very freaked out when he first got the gig, but he realized it's not that different from making an independent film, in that they're trying to do something new and different.
Chris Pratt jokes that when he got the role, they said "Great job! But you're too fat." So he's been working out.
"Peter Quill as Star-Lord is this guy who lives in space," quips Pratt. He's kind of a jerk, had a hard time as a kid, and now goes around space making out with hot alien girls and being a rogue.
Star-Lord is kind of a jerk. had a hard time as a kid. Goes around space, making out, being a rogue.
Zoe jokes that she's been blue once, so she figured why not try green.
Zoe Saldana plays Gamora, the deadliest woman in the universe.
Marvel gives the actors the chance to really embody a character. She describes Gamora as "an assassin from space"
Dave Bautista still can't believe he got this job. Kevin says he really earned it after auditioning five or six times--audition processes for our movies can sometimes be very long.
Dave Bautista says he broke down and cried like a baby when he got the part of Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Dave says he's the "baby on set" in terms of acting ability, and goes onto the set every day looking to learn something new, and he's very lucky to work with such talented people.
Huge applause and reaction for Benicio Del Toro. BDT plays The Collector.
James called Benicio and asked him if he'd read the screenplay, and that's really how he got involved.
This is Benicio's first time meeting the whole cast, as he hasn't started filming yet.
Lee Pace describes Ronan as "a very complicated Kree. He's a beast." He doesn't want to say too much right now, though.
Lee Pace plays Ronan the Accuser in Guardians of the Galaxy
Djimon Hounsou wanted to play Drax.
Djimon plays Korath. He's a great ally to Ronan and Thanos.
KAREN GILLEN!!!!! Huge reaction for her here. She plays Nebula
Karen Gillen shaved her head for the part of Nebula!
She just took her wig off and threw it into the audience
And Karen Gillen is bald for the role of Nebula! Boom. Guardians of the Galaxy
Karen says it was liberating to shave her head.
Michael Rooker plays Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy
And now we're getting our first look at footage from Guardians, which JUST started filming 10 days ago.
And now the cast of the Guardians is up on stage taking photos!
Kevin started walking off...but then he came back...he says there's one more person here who wanted to say hi: Joss Whedon!
Joss has taken the microphone.
He says he doesn't have anything to say, but he has one thing to add.
There's some voice over from the first Avengers movie...
And the title of the sequel to Marvel's The Avengers is...
"Avengers: Age of Ultron"!
