Marvel Select Zombie Hulk

Package Description
Already cursed with the ability to become the rampaging Hulk when he was angered, Bruce Banner now carries a mysterious virus that has transformed him and his green alter ego into flesh-craving zombies. Though many super heroes were turned into these monstrosities, none dare to get between the Hulk and a potential meal. After all, “the madder Hulk gets, the hungrier Hulk gets.”

Appearance
Upon buying the Hulk, the first thing I noticed was that he was much bigger than he looked from his prototype pictures. Technically, he’s not in a 7” scale though, he’s in a 6” scale because he is as tall as the Marvel Legends Face-Off Hulk. However, he’s still big enough compared to Zombie Spidey and Colonel America that he looks close enough in scale to them to look good beside them.

Hulk’s a little too hunched for my liking. It makes it hard to see his face on display, since his head doesn’t go up past level. His chin goes all the way to his chest though, which looks a little odd. For the most part, he’s proportioned well, and reminds me of Toybiz’s FA Hulk in his size and sculpt. He doesn’t have a whole lot of flesh damage though, which is where he lacks compared to the other two zombies. Spidey and Colonel America both had many flesh wounds and removeable parts, which Zombie Hulk does not. There are rips in his pants, which is normal for a Hulk figure. Worse still, if you look at his legs and feet, there isn’t a single flesh wound. This is one clean zombie.

What this figure relies on is its size and its abnormally dark green skin. The damage to the skin and face is outright unimpressive compared to the other zombies. Overall, I have a favorable opinion of the figure, because there’s not anything that looks bad. There’s just not anything that looks great either.

Articulation
Articulation is virtually identical to the other zombies, and looking more and more like Hasbro joints. He has a waist swivel, ball jointed knees and elbows, simple cut wrists, and pin jointed ankles. For the most part he gets a reasonable range of motion that is virtually identical to that of other Hulks. The head is odd because it goes from level to straight down. The only other thing of note is that the joints were really tight out of the package, and took a long time to loosen up.

Poseability
There’s finally a decent number of Zombies for Hulk to be posed with. The completed base looks nice, but it’s a little hard to fit all three on it. He’s best posed with the other zombies because it’s hard for Hulk to do any good zombie poses. He can be put in some good poses such as holding someone up in the air. Overall, what can be done with Hulk is really as limited as the other zombies because of the lack of other figures to pose them with.

Final Judgment: 6
Hulk definitely has the cool factor of a zombie, but after getting the trio I’m a little disappointed. It seems these figures could have been better, although they are good by Marvel Select standards. What really hurts these figures is the lack of good figures to pose with them (although a few Halloween skeletons might do the trick). Overall though, Hulk just isn’t an exciting figure, and has its value only in that its one of only three Marvel Zombies made. For that, Hulk can’t get more than a 6.
