Appearance
ROGUE
Rogue’s costume is comic accurate, but is a little small. The figure is small compared to Elektra, although proportional. Unlike other figures in this series, she looks more like a single piece like the die cast figures out a couple years ago. The colors look good, the green helping to dull the bright yellow some. The face seems to lack personality compared to other figures, but is adequate. The paint application is clean, but the figure lacks details in its overall appearance. The details are in the hair, and some in the jacket and belt, which are not very noticeable. On display with other figures she looks a little small.
GAMBIT
The first thing I noticed on this figure is the skin tone is much darker than it is in the comics. The darker brown skin lacks contrast with the brown coat and brown hair, and most of the purple shirt is hidden. This figure lacks color more than anything else. The paint application is clean, and the sculpt generally proportional. The pose is unique on this character, but the shape is governed by the large coat, which makes his shape indistinguishable in a crowd of figures. This seems like a figure that with a few tweaks could have been a lot better visually, because the brown tones of this figure make Gambit much darker than most figures in the Superhero Squad line.
Articulation
Rogue has one point of articulation. The head can move left or right. Gambit has two points of articulation; the two arms twist. Both have decent balance and range of motion.
Poseability
As with all figures in this series there’s not a whole lot to do with these figures except display them next to each other. Both these figures have problems in a collection though, because Gambit’s colors look very dull and Rogue is small. Other than that they’re like any other figure.
Final Judgment: 5
These figures fit the style of the line adequately. They both have problems though, and they’re otherwise generic figures. Because these figures have some areas for improvement, I’m going to give them a score of adequate.
