Package Description
The Hulk Buster squad is an elite unit equipped with the latest technology specifically to take on THE INCREDIBLE HULK. Unfortunately, all that training and hi-tech equipment doesn’t stand a chance against the rampaging power of the HULK!
Appearance
The jeep is better than I was expecting out of the box. There are a lot of details, especially in the interior. The doors open and close, as does the back hatch. There’s wrinkles molded into the seats. There is a single molded piece attached to the dashboard with dials and the steering wheel. On the outside there are lots of rivets, the tires have treads, and the mounted gun can rotate. The decals don’t look particularly good, but look like they could be easily painted over.
As shown in the pictures, the jeep is an excellent size for GI Joe figures. They’re a little difficult to get into the jeep, but it can be done. The black color of the jeep is very nice. It is a little shiny, but overall has a hard feel that is fitting for a vehicle. The hood comes off to reveal the engine inside, which was a nice sculpting touch, but it should have been painted instead of being all black.
The included Hulk is, and looks, cheap. There are some details and even a little paint wash, but compared to the regular movie Hulk figures this Hulk is severely lacking. In short this toy isn’t worth buying for the Hulk at all, especially with so many other Hulks on the shelf right now.
Overall I’m very pleased with the look of the jeep. The Hulk decals and paint aren’t too flamboyant for me to mind too much, but this jeep isn’t going on display in a Marvel section. The jeep is not the right size at all for regular ML figures, so this jeep will be transporting Joes from now on. There are a lot of nice little details that make this vehicle seem worthwhile.
Articulation
The jeep’s wheels can roll, and the doors open and close. There’s a firing missile, and the mounted gun rotates. The hood comes off.
The Hulk has 6 points of articulation. Two points in the legs, two in the shoulders, 1 in the waist and 1 in the head.
Poseability
The jeep does not go well in general with Marvel figures. With smaller scaled lines though the jeep looks good. 25th Anniversary Joes seem to go best with the jeep. Hulk figures from the movie can be displayed fighting the jeep, but I prefer the ML Face Off Hulk myself. Of course, the jeep also takes up a lot of shelf space.
The included Hulk is virtually useless.
Final Judgment: 6
The jeep is nice, although very expensive for $20. I did not buy this for the Hulk figure in the slightest. I would only recommend this for someone who is looking for an alternative to Joe vehicles. The jeep looks good and has a lot of detail. But keep in mind, what you see is pretty much what you get for the most part.
