Marvel Legends Archangel Figure

Marvel Legends Archangel Figure

Jay Cochran - March 04, 2013

Hasbro releases a new updated version of Archangel in their Marvel Legends line. Toy Biz released their own version back in 2006 as part of their X-Men line, and Hasbro first released their own version in X-Force colors this past summer as part of a San Diego Comic Con exclusive boxset. So how does this latest version stack up? Read on to find out.

Check out hi-res images for this figure in our GALLERY below.

Packaging - This figure incorporates the same standard packaging Hasbro has been using for all their Marvel Legends figures since last year. The The top on the front and on the back features comic art of the character. The art is done by comic book artist Clayton Crain. The figure is clearly displayed on the front of the card so you can get a good look at it before purchasing. The front also features some art for other figures being released in the wave, but you can’t really see that until you open the figure and remove it from the packaging.

Sculpt - If you have the SDCC X-Force version, then you know what you’ll be getting with this figure because it uses the same sculpt. This version of Warren Worthington is bald, and the wings attach on the back in a peg hole. The sculpt has a lot of detailed muscles sculpted on it, and the outer skin suit is sculpted on the head to create some differentiation between it and the face. My old Toy Biz figure seems to be MIA so I could not actually do a comparison, but if I remember correctly it was a bit on the shorter side; this figure is not.

Paint - The figure uses dark blues and pink metallic paint. The blue used on the face is a lighter shade than the rest of the body, and the eyebrows use yellow paint to depict the characters blond hair. The eyes are completely white. For the wings, they use dull grey paint not the shiny vac-metal paint used on the SDCC version.

Articulation - The head is on a hinged ball-joint so it can move left, right, up and down, good for posing the figure into flight positions.

The figure has swivel hinged ball-joints at the shoulders, swivel bicep, double-hinged elbows, swivel wrists, ab crunch, and swivel waist. The legs are attached to the waist with swivel hinged joints, swivel thighs, double-jointed knees, swivel calves, and ankle rockers. The wings have three articulated joints. They are of the same design as the SDCC version.

Accessories - Other than the detachable wings this figure has no accessories.

Overall - This version of Archangel is far superior to the old Toy Biz version. At least on my figure, the joints all seem to be much tighter than my SDCC X-Force version especially on the wings. If you are a fan of the archangel character then I think you definitely will want to pick this one up.
