That's a sad story, but it doesn't surprise me in the least.

I was a Star Wars collector for years until I couldn't take it anymore. The lack of new product, reusing parts, constant price increases, not listening when fans have asked for characters hundreds of times, it was all just too much.

Hasbro claims to love all their fans, but really they are a soulless company that sees collectors as a giant pain to deal with.

My brother was a toy sculptor, (not with Hasbro), for a few years - the owner took all the credit while his staff did all the actual work. It's no wonder people in the industry have huge egos and look down on us pitiful "collectors" - some will even steal from their own employees.

Yeah, there's a little history there. Back when they did the first version of the Hulk I pointed out, to no one in particular, that someone else on this forum had pointed out that he was more or less an upscaled version of the ML one with a different head sculpt. It wasn't my observation initially, I just mentioned what someone else had mentioned it to me. There's a guy who occasionally comes onto this site who apparently is part of the sales team (or production team) for Marvel Select that responded to me directly. I won't say his name as I don't wish to invoke him, but he basically immediately came unglued and responded that MS does not upscale anything (which they clearly did) and it was a "unique" sculpt (meaning they sculpted some rips in the knees and eliminated some details in the torso) and it was a completely different figure (meaning the head sculpt). So I meaningfully apologized, noting that it was only an observation that someone pointed to me and was glad to have someone with real time knowledge of the toy business on the forum. Then I simply suggested there might be some money to be made if they decided to do a similar thing with Sasquatch or the Abomination molds as a lot of people felt they were undersized and would probably pick them up for their ML collection. Then I went on to tell him I was a customizer and had done a (more) size accurate Sasquatch myself, but a more mainstream version would be well received as I think a lot of us would buy it, and that seemed to open the floodgates. He went on to basically tell me, in shortened paraphrase, to not tell him how to do his job, and that would be an insult to Marvel, Hasbro and the customers (also wrong), and that customizers were nothing but thieves and copiers and reproducers of "real" artists work trying to make an extra buck on Ebay, none of which I am. I do use produced head sculpts as base, though, as I am currently attempting to use the Siryn head sculpt to make a screaming head sculpt, just so it will match the figure, and I never try to sell my work online, though I will sell them to friends and collectors for little more than time and material, because I genuinely like doing it. And in not so many words he basically said "customizers" (specifically in quotes) were more or less people that wish they could cut it in the toy business, but lack the talent. I responded, cuz that's what I do, and basically thanked him for his superb customer interaction and for belittling my natural talent and the things I like to do during my free time, and though art is my passion, my day job and other investments earned me more than what I was able to earn as an artist (at that time), while also pointing out that basically any artist doing work for ML or MS was more or less "stealing" art from someone as they were ultimately basing their work off some comic artist's design, but appreciated his insight from his vantage point up on his high horse. He never responded, which was probably best for both he and I. And, of course that they lost a potential customer for life, but I'm sure he doesn't care.

Off subject, I know, and I'll stop. Just wanted to give you some insight there.

In hand this thing is spectacular!

Good to see that Marvel Select is cashing in again by making minor changes (.ie. not painting the knees) to and then UPSCALING the sculpt Hasbro paid for again. And then putting an unused Joker face sculpt on it. Looks like stolen art to me.

I'm perfectly happy with the Legends version so I have no need for this one.
