Okay so this looks pretty cool but it is just as I feared in that she is super small. Apparently they used the exact same sculpt they used on the terribly undersized Warbird figure. For them to supposedly make a point to differentiate between Carol and Karla they sure didn't do much other than a slightly different head sculpt. I mean at least they kept it pretty consistent between the two characters because they are of similar size. But these two are short. Super short. They barely edge out Wolverine. I know he's MAFEX but as I recall he's either the same size or just slightly smaller than the ML version. To put it in perspective way back in the day Hasbro did both characters on the same body mold. Which was the Moonstone model which was accurate because it was what was considered the bigger "Powerhouse" model at the time and both characters are officially supposedly just under 6 ft. tall. Carol was done twice. Once as Captain Marvel in the Odin wave and once as Warbird in the Target exclusive 3 pack with Radioactive Man and Captain America. Karla was done twice as well using that model. Both as Moonstone. One was in the SDCC Thunderbolts set and then they basically redid the same exact figure on an upgraded version of the Moonstone model as a Walgreens exclusive. With pinless joints no less. The fact that they retooled the model for an exclusive signaled to me they were planning on using the mold more often as the bigger body to the much improved Shriek body which was supposed to replace the terrible Kate model but I think they only used it once more on the Scream figure and then it disappeared. And then after that they completely went off the rails. They go on to do Binary who is Carol on the ridiculous rubber chicken legged Kate mold when they could have easily gotten some cheap use out of the updated Moonstone mold. And then they do these two figures on a truly better articulated model but which is crazy small. Almost to the point that it seems like it's actually meant to be a teen model. The bigger rub is there is actually a bigger model with almost the exact articulation that they could have used which was the one they used for the Phoenix Deluxe figure. Not only is that model taller but it's much taller. Actually they should have used the mold they used for Ms. Marvel and Warbird for Phoenix and the mold they used for Phoenix on Ms. Marvel and Warbird. But basically they had two better options to maintain accuracy to the characters size. I promise very few people would have had a problem if they'd both been done on the updated Moonstone body because it had pinless joints and double jointed elbows and superior head sculpts. Neither character really needs to be all that flexible anyway. They fly and punch stuff really hard and shoot energy out of their hands. Give them good neck articulation and some new power effects and most of us would have been good. And to make things just a little bit more frustrating and to trigger people with OCD such as myself they just switch the names around. Carol was Warbird in that outfit. And Karla never went by Warbird in that outfit. Uggghhh! Just to give it that extra grit. I know there's something about these figures where Hasbro was trying to show out that there is some commitment to improving the female figure articulation and I do commend them for it but in situations like this you really see where they are terribly lacking in the research and knowledge of the characters. I honestly don't think they intentionally mean to make things inaccurate but I do think they rush to do these kinds of showcase pieces and the point to get certain details accurate probably falls to the bottom of the list intentionally. I know for the most part people here are not too bothered by this and by what I see from a lot of social media only a select few other detail oriented sticklers which include me are bothered all that much. But too me this just seems so simple. To me it doesn't seem that hard to find people who really know these characters and really care about the details to make sure their figures and in this case much anticipated figures get done accurately. To me Hasbro is second to no one at the 6 inch scale and in the same price market but these hiccups are just unacceptable for a company that strives to show they are making strides to improve but can't even manage to get the simple details right. Rant over. I know I'm probably in the minority here but well there it is. I bought it. I think it's good looking but she's just tiny. And it really bugs the crap out of me.
This figure turned out better than hoped. Instead if a simple repaint, Hasbro went the extra mile with the different body type. It's subtle but goes a long way to let us know this isn't Carol.
Also, have seen a few leg swaps that turn this figure into the Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes animated version of Carol. Looks amazing as well.
