You arent kidding. I dont understand why these almost always end up so bizarre looking. The only decent ones are the X-Men 97 sculpt and the Moonstone sculpt, but then again the latter wasnt initially intended for Jean.
Someone at Hasbro really doesn't like Jean Grey. So many weird or poor head sculpts. I don't think these are any better than Phoenix.

I wanted to not want this, because of the obvious glaring omission of painted boots, but I think it looks like a lovely figure regardless so I went for it, I'm not a huge crybaby about inaccuracys like the boots, so I can overlook it, but I'm sure that once they re-paint this in red, we'll get yellow boots, I got no shame in saying I'd probably buy that one too, I rarely pass on a lady marvel character since I have a dedicated Women of Marvel shelf, and it's one of my biggest ML collections.
I'll be passing her up too, unfortunately. I've wanted this team to happen for very long but my days of buying into Hasbro's weaponized incompetence are long gone. Whether the lack of boot deco was intentional or not, it's pretty sad that they continue to underperform on the most basic of costumes time after time.
A very nice figure but a lazy choice not to paint the boots yellow. Passing on this one
