It's funny, cause I 100 percent remember all of what you two are talking about. I never used to comment, I just read for years. (Probably shoulda kept it that way) But I always thought it was funny that the Thing was listed as 6 ft and like Hawkeye was listed taller. Just funny to think about all the characters you'd never see taller than the Thing in any comic. But yes, when they had the side by sides of the new figure I thought of that commenter as well, like ,"well I know one person who should be thrilled!"

While we are talking about FF figures, anyone else a bit annoyed that they aren't in any stores? At least by me they aren't. What are they thinking? Get these figures into some stores, the movies out this week! I still haven't gotten them, cause I'm trying to ween myself off the MCU stuff. But if the movie is good, I'll probably want the 4 at least. And from all the early scuttlebutt, it sounds really good.

I get you. I remember there was a guy on here that was really "intense" about the size characters should be, so I remember reading him say that The Thing was supposed to be just 6'0 in the Marvel guidebook or somethin'. Supposedly, even shorter than Reed. I'm sure he wouldn't be satisfied with this release either, but it's closer to his wishes.

I personally love that the big guys are different shapes and sizes: OG Groot is tall and lanky, Hulk is buff and tall, Colossus is not as much, now the Thing is also big but smaller, I'm guessing Groot vol3 sized... I think it also reflects their power rankings in a way, so I think it's cool they're not all huge and plays a part in a diverse display

Lol. Oddly enough I think you might have been speaking about my ex spouse who I used to share an account with back in the day. Though sharing is not the proper word. He more or less dominated it. But I digress. He was very adamant about the technical data. I can only imagine how his head is exploding now days that all the character physical data is being retconned to be more in line with the Cinematic versions of the characters. I am also adamant about the character data to an extent but my bigger peeve is that the characters match what they look like in the comics. For instance I know Thing has always been listed as 6'0". That's one of the few stats that have remained consistent even to this day. But TBH he's never really been portrayed as a simple 6'0" in the comics. Proportionately he's built like Hulk but at a smaller size just a bit shorter than Colossus. And it's very rare anytime after Kirby's initial run that he's ever been shown to be shorter than Reed. It's just one of those things. I'm actually very happy with the current Comic Thing figure(s). I think he fits in quite well with the Hulk and Colossus figures. In general I think the majority of the "Larger" guys are pretty well done. Of course there are a few glaring missteps like Sasquatch and Abomination who are both much smaller than their comic renditions but I have hopes they will eventually get corrected. Especially with the rumored Abomination coming up. IMO a couple of Gamerverse multi packs made under the Contest of Champions game would cure a lot of issues. That's been something I've been harping on several platforms ever since it was clear that they used the design for the first Colossus and several other figures from the game. For the most part the character designs are similar to the comic designs. Off the bat I would say a set like Abomination vs Iceman or Sasquatch vs Silver Sable would be great ways to get some much needed updates on some of the older characters. But I'm just a fan who thinks she has a pretty good pulse on what most collectors want. Not some brilliant stuffed shirt at the top that knows that making the same character over and over and not following any kind of scale or consistency in the body types used is what the fans really want and need. I promise if I were in charge there would be a lot more emphasis put on the figures staying loyal to how they are portrayed in the comics. I mean Hasbro has all the resources at the ready. They have all the body models they have the best balance of articulation and aesthetics in the business right now. They just don't have the proper direction as far as size scale and even sometimes color to make the characters accurate to not only themselves but to each other. That's something I always thought Jesse Falcon from Marvel was supposed to be in charge of but I guess I must be wrong because whoever is in charge of that is clearly asleep at the wheel. Lol. I often picture in my mind that image of an empty desk and that little counterweighted rocking bird pressing the enter button on the keyboard over and over as the approval requests come across the screen.

I just at this point have to say how much I apperciate Marvel Studios making Thing look so good, they translated him onto the big screen in such a great way, I think he looks just like he should, Now this figure looks pretty awesome because of that, One thing is he seems a tad small for The Thing, but Whatever, And all that being said, I won't be buying this on a account of my Anti-MCU figure collecting criteria. So Pass.

I keep having to remind myself that the Thing is not a giant. I've seen a lot of artists draw him a good head taller than the other members of the FF, but that is NOT how he's supposed to be, even if it feels "right".He's no taller than Reed, and maybe a bit shorter. What really messes me up is when he's pitted against ( or alongside) the Hulk, who is listed as between 7-8' feet tall, because height is a traditional yardstick for power levels. The Thing always seems to be the underdog in that kind of pairing.

To be entirely fair, they do seem to have canonized Ben's scale creep in recent years, with the most recent on-panel figure as far as I'm aware (from Walter Mosley's The Thing miniseries) being that he's now 6'6. But I'm definitely glad the movie is putting him at ~6 foot even.

See this is why I love my guy @MCUcollector24. He always gets us the information we need to make an informed decision. From the start I really didn't like these figures but I did buy Silver Shalla because I just liked the look of her but I was actually on the fence about Thing because it does look good and I was wondering if it was going to be comparable to the standard release because I do want one wearing pants. But looking at these comparisons he is just far too small compared to the comic version. Which I believe is almost right on the verge of being too small itself. Seeing this I can comfortably say I do not need this Thing figure. Still looks good and still the best version of any of the cinematic Thing to date for sure. The figure just isn't right for my collection. I assume I will eventually get a movie Thing but I can wait until he eventually gets his MCU Mainstream glow up. I just do not like these uniforms.
