What's been going on behind-the-scenes with Marvel's upcoming Ant-Man movie which will star Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas may be no laughing matter but the movie itself is looking more and more to have some serious comedic overtones to it. According to
THR, Marvel is looking at 3 possible candidates to replace Edgar Wright as the director after he abruptly exited the project due to supposed script changes made by the studio he was not happy with. According to THR,
Rawson Thurber (We're the Millers, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story),
Adam McKay (the Anchorman movies) and
Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) are on the shortlist and meeting with Marvel to discuss the possibility of taking over from Wright. Like with Wright all 3 have a background in comedy movies with Thurber previously having worked with Rudd on the Anchorman movies. Honestly when I think of the Ant-Man character, comedy would be the last thing that comes to my mind but I guess you could have said the same thing about Iron Man and Tony Stark until Robert Downey Jr. got his hands on the character. Time will tell I guess if Marvel really knows what they are doing on this one or not.
