Product Backstory
Among the most fearsome of the Marvel Universe super-villains, Apocalypse is one of the earliest mutants on the planet. His life began in the harsh deserts of ancient Egypt where he was abandoned at infancy and later taken in by nomads who taught him that only the strong survive. It was when his nomadic tribe was enslaved that Apocalypse discovered his regenerative abilities, never lastingly hurt by their cruel treatment. Apocalypse became virtually immortal once he discovered and bonded himself with extraterrestrial technology, and his undying philosophy of strength would overtake him for centuries to come as he regenerated time and time again.
Apocalypse's first appearance was in the 1980s X-Factor comic series, in which he repeatedly clashed with fellow mutants, the original X-Men. It then came to light that Apocalypse had taken it upon himself to test the strength of mortal man for generations, traveling through time and reappearing throughout history, making sure that only the strong survive. Still today, he upholds his ancient philosophy, reawakening himself to wreak havoc on mankind whenever he senses weakness.
