The
New York Magazine recently interviews Actor Mickey Rourke about his Oscar and Wrestlemania 25 appearances but their main concern was Rourke's upcoming movies. When the subject was brought up about Rourke being in the next Iron Man 2 movie. Rourke grimly declined...
"Right now, we're not doing Iron Man 2"
Rumor has it that Rourke pulled out of the project after Marvel only offered the Best Actor nominee $250,000 dollars for his role in the Iron Man 2 movie.

I'm glad! He looks like someone you'd see at an AA meeting or Unemployment Office. If I want to see that i can cross over the tracks or go to the nearest trailor park.
Actually...that'd be pretty appropriate for Backlash/Whiplash...who's usually been a bit of a sad sack loser in most of his appearances.
Now that Rourke didn't win the Best Actor Oscar, we'll see if any renegotiating comes about.

funny because most of the c,d,e,f listers has been unemployed in the comics. i think that backlash was sitting next to shocker in a bar if i remember the r.stamos comics but i am not sure about it

You know, there's two things that strike me about the folks yelling "Just pay him already!"One: He hasn't won the Best Picture Oscar yet, but he's sure acting like it. Given how far into the crapper his career was until fairly recently, he's really not one to be making demands. Even if he does win, plenty of "Oscar Winners" have ended up with lackluster careers and less-than-stellar roles afterwards. No one's going to be mistaking Mickey Rourke for Laurence Olivier just because he gets (or might get) a little gold statue.
Two: How do we know the role is really worth a million dollars? If he's a secondary villain that has limited screen time and lines, and most of the action sequences are CGIed or played by stunt doubles...why pay him more than the role is really worth?
The way I see it, Rourke getting an offer to be in a high-profile, almost certainly going to be a hit blockbuster film is a bit of a "reward" in and of itself. He's had one, maybe two solid roles in the last four or five years, and he's NOT really a "box office draw."
So.... Robert Downey didn't have a great carreer or was high profile before Iron Man and they still casted him. In my opinion Mickey Rourke is a great actor who made some bad choices. He was perfect as Marv and he has played some good roles in recent movies mainly Robert Rodriguez ones but still good movies. By the way He was rumored to play Whiplash or Blacklash whatever they call him now, and I for one was very interested in seeing him play the role. Now I don't think 1 million dollars for the role but 250,000 is kind of insulting
blacklash why not the russian dude crimson dyamo
Who knows?, anyway it was all rumors and now apparently is not happening

i think that rourke is getting popular lately and he has a name in hollywood. i mean right now he can win the oscar. thats not bad if you ask me? now ironman made around 500 million, dont tell me that it will hurt to spend a million on an actor who is maiby not so great but has a real presence in hollywood. ironman 1 was a huge succes and ironman 2 will be even better. moneywise. i know that if i had the chance to get mickey rourke and sam jackson to do a movie and this for just 2 millions, then i would say money well spend. even for just a minute.
