I don't have the SHS venom. I have the new one with the same paint job as that sorry ass black suited spiderman. it has the knee joints and the ankle joints. (by the way, Pooda, i like the pciture you gots of snake eyes resolute there)

i guess venom doesnt have knee joints after all.

I actually like the highlights with blue. A matte black figure is boring, but add that blue, in the proper places, and it becomes much more interesting.

I saw this figure at SDCC and his head sculpt is friggin awesome even if he is tiny. Very 'Lethal Protector' era...which is the Venom toy I always wanted. No super-exaggerated tongue or hulk physique! Just Brock and his alien bud. I'm just hoping for new legs somewhere down the line. Maybe with deco in gloss black with no blue. *crosses fingers*

Comics have blue hightlights because it's hard to have black colors near shaded areas, reason Psylocke's hair is blue in comics but it's actually black. No reason to have those terrible blue highlights for a figure though.

Psylocke's hair is actually purple or "Originally black, often dyed purple" according to the OHOTMU.

Wolverine's hair is black and has been entirely black with the exception of light reflection.

The "black colors near shaded areas" is no longer the issue it was with digital coloring and printing as opposed to the old newsprint/press operation.

But I agree that the blue highlights on the figures is awful and makes me cringe. In fact, I personally don't like any of the MU wash/shading effects, which is such a drag because I love the toys themselves.

I realize that comics don't use that anymore, I should have clarified that. I just remembered the old 80's and 90's comics always doing that. It seems like they are doing a retcon with her hair color. I remember reading a Wizard issue where they were talking about her and saying her hair is actually black in the comics but just looks purple because of the shading. Now with the digital colors they can make it black easily against shadow so it seems they are just saying it was dyed purple all along.

everyone knows the reason, but theyre trying to make the figs truly "comic accurate"

Agreed. For a very short time in the comic they tried to do Spidey's costume as a flat matte black with no highlights but it just ended up looking like some dark, somewhat humanoid splotch so they started using the highlights again and that's just the way the symbiote's been interpreted ever since. The flat black may actually translate well to a 3-D figure though (examples: DCUC Black Manta and Regeneration Suit Superman). Maybe they'll try it on another "revision" eventually.

I just can't believe Hasbro would start making lines without proper articulation....again. The Iron Man toon line is sitting on the shelves because of this. Not even a kid wants a $8 McDonald's toy.

If they have gave this figure knee joints and ankle joints then there is no doubt this figure will be great.

Would you mind sharing some pictures with us?

Especially of the knees and ankles.

Has anyone seen these on E-bay yet? I figure that if they are showing up on the Pac-Rim, we should be seeing them for auction.

I would not mind getting my hands on Venom (even if he does not have knee articulation).

When they put it on the Punisher figure that almost ruined it. I really wish they hadn't done that to this Venom because it looks quite decent. Hopefully they will have a regular version without the hightlights like they did with black Spidey.
