The website Movie Line claims that they have sources confirming that actor
John Malkovich is being seriously considered to play the role of
Adrian Toomes AKA The Vulture in the upcoming Sam Rami directed Spider-Man 4 movie from Sony Pictures.
In the comic books, The Vulture is a villain who uses a special harness of his own design that allows him to fly and endows him with enhanced strength. Although Toomes is advanced in age, he is a strong fighter and a remorseless killer.
The Movie Line article goes on to say that actress Anne Hathaway is the favorite to play the role of Felicia Hardy, which in the comic books is the secret identity of The Black Cat who is a sometimes cat burgler and sometimes sidekick to Spider-Man. According to these latest rumors though, for this movie, the Hardy character will become a brand-new superpowered figure called the Vulturess instead of playing the part of the Black Cat.
As for Dylan Baker, who played Curt Connors in the previous Spider-Man films and has been rumored to play the part of Spider-Man villain The Lizard, word is now that the folks at Sony can’t seem to bring themselves to sign off on such an odd-looking character — instead, they’d rather stick to villains with human faces.
Spider-Man 4 will open in theaters on 05/05/2011. Share your thoughts on these latest casting rumors for Spider-Man 4 down below.
