MTV is reporting that actor Tobey Maguire is refusing to comment on
rumors about the Vulture being the villain for the next Spider-Man movie.
"In terms of 'Spidey 4,' I will plead the Fifth and not say anything," said Maguire when asked if there was any truth to the rumor. Pressed to address whether he's a fan of Malkovich and Hathaway, and whether he'd like to see either actor/actress in the film, Maguire dodged. "Who knows, who knows..."
In other Spider-Man movie news, the website
IESB is reporting that sources have confirmed for them that production on Spider-Man 4 is on "indefinite hold."
There are some major issues director Sam Raimi is dealing with that includes an incomplete script. And why is the script incomplete? Looks like Raimi and the studio heads at Sony Pictures can't agree upon a villain for the film.
Raimi is pulling for the Vulture while the studio apparently is only interested in in featuring which ever character is selling books right now. Until things are worked out between the two sides, according to the IESB source everything has come to a halt.
Spider-Man 4 is currently slated to open in theaters on May 5, 2011.
