Marvel is conducting screen tests this week in its search for the actor to play Steve Rogers, the alter ego of the title character in its "The First Avenger: Captain America" movie which Paramount will distribute on July 22, 2011.
The movie tells the story of the young infirm man rejected from enlisting who becomes America's symbol of liberty during World War II and eventually a member of Marvel's superhero team the Avengers. Joe Johnston will be directing.
A list of actors has been compiled for the test screening which include John Krasinski, Michael Cassidy, Patrick Flueger, Scott Porter, Wilson Bethel and Mike Vogel.
Chace Crawford, Garret Hedlund and Jensen Ackles are three names that maybe added to the list depending on scheduling conflicts.
