According to the website
Vulture, 20th Century Fox has narrowed the search for a director down to two candidates for the next as-of-yet untitled Wolverine movie. One of those candidates is Robert Schwentke (Flightplan, The Time Traveler's Wife) and the other more likely choice is David Slade who directed Twilight: Eclipse. Both men have been approved by the studio and the final decision will be made by the film's star Hugh Jackman, but sources tell Vulture that Slade is the likely pick.
It has been said that the story for the second Wolverine film will be set in Japan and be based on the classic Marvel Comics storyline by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller in which Wolverine goes up against a ninja clan known as "The Hand." The draft for this sequel was last reported to have been worked on by scribe Christopher McQuarrie.
