We told you this summer about how at some point Hasbro would be following Marvel Entertainment's lead by connecting their different Marvel movie lines (Iron Man, Thor & Captain America) together just like the movies will do. Well after our news earlier today about the new
6" Titanium Man figure images, several readers have written in to point out Iron Man seems to have made the jump to the Avengers with Hasbro's new Iron Man packaging.
Thanks to eBay seller
ehobbybase, we have a look at several of the upcoming new 6" Iron Man figures on cardback including the upcoming
Hulkbuster one. You will notice in the images that the cardbacks no longer say "Iron Man 2", but instead says
"Iron Man: The Armored Avenger" and in the right corner you will notice a "Avengers Assemble" symbol which should start appearing on all of Hasbro's Iron Man, Thor and Captain America related toys.
One might also take note that these figures say on the packaging that they are part of the "Legends Series," which is in reference to the 6" scale line that many fans want to see more of in the coming days.
One final note we want to point out, based on the images below, you will see that it appears Hasbro is re-releasing their Iron Man 2 Mark VI and War Machine figures under this new "Armored Avenger" line. These figures were previously released as Wal-Mart exclusives but it appears that they will see re-release at general retail under this new line.
Hasbro made some tall promises at last summer's San Diego Comic-Con about the 6" Marvel Legends line returning in a big way for 2012 with things starting to kick off in 2011 with these new Iron Man figures, and it seems like using the upcoming blockbuster Marvel movies to tie all these lines in together for promotion purposes is a good way to do that, lets just hope it works.
