New Avengers Action Figure Cardback & Other Merchandise Revealed

by Jay Cochran
September 28, 2011
Collider has gotten their hands on some images that gives us a look at some upcoming merchandise based on Marvel's Avengers movies. Besides a look at a backpack and hoodie, we also have our look at what the likely new cardbacks for Hasbro's Avengers based action figures will look like. The image shown below of the cardback is obviously just a mock-up and the figure itself is probably nothing more than just a stand-in, however we have also included images for your viewing pleasure of the Avengers figures Hasbro had on display this past summer at San Diego Comic Con which will more than likely be shipped on this type of cardback.

Directed by Joss Whedon, The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Cobie Smulders, and Samuel L. Jackson.

The Avengers opens May 4, 2012.

I think the card art is very good. I might get these but if they start pumping out tw, thre for diferent Ironmans ... I'm not gogin to be very interested. I mean seriously1 the stores are still flooded with Cap Thor and Ironman 2 figures! then they want to add these in the mix? if there isn't even a sign of a comic series for this line, then it will be a major fail. I even think children are getting tired of seeing all those Ironmans, caps and Thors sitll lingering around! LMFAO!

I don't think I'll buy anything from the avengers line if nothing new is there.

Well we know there will at least be 2 Avengers movie Iron man figs since all of the art we've seen shows him w/ a round arc reactor, and the figure here has the triangle.

I sincerely hope that the Avengers line has both comic, and movie sides to the line. If it does the kids can have the movie figs I just want the comic ones.

The only reasons I'm looking for Thor figs is for the characters that haven't been made in comic form like Odin, the warriors 3, Destroyer, and Sif (IF she ever comes out). Speaking of w2 last night at work was the first time I've ever seen it, and I can't even get my hands on it. I work in the Rite Aid mid Atlantic DC, and last night as I was parking my stock picker for lunch I rode past a pallet of Thor figs. So out of curiosity I rode back, and looked. They were W2 WAVE Fricking 2!!!!!!!!!!!! The first, and only time I've seen these figs in person, and I can't fricking touch them WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

No what worries me is that figure 03 is IM....and figure 01 & 02 are probably also IM, as well as figures 07, 10, 12-17, and every other figure from 20 on up.lol

.....but the packaging does look nice. Just don't expect me to expand my hordes of IM too much more. I'm getting to the point where even adding to a "Hall of Armor" doesn't really excite me too much. Breadth and diversity will hopefully be paramount in the coming waves of Avengers figs...

I don't think it'll be that bad for Avengers, there alike 6 of them plus Fury, and villians, were still not sure about all the villains we know the first wave will probably be Cap Iron Man and Thor hopefully followed by Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hulk, Fury and Maria Hill.

I really Hope we get a comic line, I think it would be a dumb idea not to include one with Marvels Biggest movie ever, i hope they include:

all the movie characters in comic form

Simonson Thor

Black Widow

Modern Hawkeye

Nick Fury

Maria Hill

Loki

and other avengers Like:

Classic Beast

a better Vision

Sersi

Tigra

Moondragon

D-man

a better Spider-woman (both actually)

Mockingbird

Wasp

Ant Man

I like it. Hopefully they'll make a good Hulk figure.

Anyone else nervous that the words "movie series" are nowhere to be found?

I've been hoping for an Avengers comic series since the IM2 line.

Well it is a photoshop pic.

The blank strip on the bottom left is where they could conceivably add "movie" or "comic". They probably left it out to "surprise" us.

I really hope that that avengers line isnt filled with 4 versions of each movie figure especially iron man. We are getting a new thor in an upcoming wave so i think we can expect cool renditions of hawkeye but i reallh hope we get alot of figures of who the avengers are fighting we need more skrulls etc. (if thats who they are fighting) ;)
