Whedon Discusses 'The Avengers' Leader And New Movie Images

Writer-director Joss Whedon has revealed in an interview with EW that "The Avengers" is a group effort uniting some of Marvel’s most iconic superheroes. But one crusader in particular will serve as the perspective for the movie. With it being true to the comic books, it was Captain America as the leader of "The Avengers" and will be for the course of the movie.

"So much of [The Avengers] story takes place from Steve Rogers’ perspective, since he’s the guy who just woke up and sees this weird-ass world," Whedon says. "Everyone else has been living in it. He’s the guy that feels that sense of loss."

"[The Avengers] is very much about people who are alone — because I’m writing it," jokes Whedon. "[Captain America] is kind of the ultimate loner in that way. There is an anachronism to him, and Chris and I have always tried to make it, without making it goofy or too obvious, always tried to make him that same grounded ’40s Steve Rogers he was in the other movie."

Whedon feels that even though the story will be told from Captain America's point of view but he isn't the main character. All the character carry equal shares of the movie.

EW also released the new image above showing Thor and Captain America fighting and the image below of Captain America striking a pose...
