This was a figure that was reallly hard to say no to, it's beautiful, but I ultimately felt I needed to pass because I already have the Loose Collector figure, but I/m so torn, everytime I see this I can't stop thinking about how great it looks, I wonder how this and Loose Collector's version stack up against each other, and more over which one looks better slipped into the ML ranks?

I sat down and watched Robokillah's FWOOSH review on the Loose Collector Red Sonja, aaaaand, here's my assessment; In comparison to the BF Red Sonja, it's really kind of a apple/oranges "your preference" thing. If you are strictly looking for a Marvel RS ( and my personal benchmark is the look from Marvel Team-Up #79--the only one I care about), then the LC Red figure is "close enough"-particularly with the details. The metal bikini, the gloves, the boots, the arm and thigh bands, all have elements that stem from that look...........but there are small differences. The BF Red is very close to that look in the comic, so much so that the differences are really minor, and the included accessory parts can make that version. Things like the gloves in the BF Red, have the slot-gap on the upper part of said glove, while the LC Red has indications of it. The LC boots have some designed gaps in the boot structure--which look nice-- but the BF Red have none, as per the comic look from that story. BF Red's sword is more accurate to the story, while LC Red's is "close enough", but different on the hand-guard.Now, here's the main thing:As a TOY, LC Red is a better figure. The bikini parts are either molded to, or better attached to the figure.BF Red's shoulder, boobs, and loid flap, are separate parts that ride on the buck.BF intends for their Red buck to be the first of a customer-customizable platform, that just requires extra accessories to make each version distinct---as their "Steam Punk Red" version now attests.LC Red's buck is also intended as "common", but they will make and present different figures ( Lady Death, Vampirella etc) via revised tooling and paint.BF's Red is a fiddly finicky figure. The armor parts slip and slide around a bit and can expose the nudity underneath, BUT that can be mitigated by using some of the other outfit gear parts.LC's Red has the loin-flap secured down, and panties painted on underneath ( from what I can see). The arm and thigh bands on the BF Red are not glued or molded on--they can slide about. That's an advantage (?) for display options.LC Red's version are all glued or molded to the figure, making a less-fussy posing situation.BF Red can go full-on "naughty movie" look if you schwing that way < blinks hard>.Then there's the trade-offs:BF Red comes with THREE heads, two are more or less the same expression, and one is a yelling expression, which I think looks really nice. The overall skin-tone is pale, and that may be a pivot point for some---I don't mind it. I think it fits what I know of Red Sonja. The LC Red flesh-tone is a bit more fleshy ( pink?) but not by a huge degree. The portrait with LC Red is lovely--I think it's the better painted and more attractive of the two figures. But there's only ONE head with the LC figure. She has more weapons though.BF offers a couple more hands, and extra clothing gear, plus a stand--the extra gear can make for a hybrid look or a Red from a different publisher's run.You got slightly more choice and maybe more value for the dollar.Lastly---price and access. The LC Red is now 2 years old, the BF Red is just now coming out. Both of these figures are "expensive", but in the $50 to $75 range, BBTS has both in stock at the moment. So, and to steal Robo's catch-phrase, at the end of the day, it comes down to what you want and look for. If you want spot-on accuracy ( as per MTU#79), then BF Red is the way to go. If you want "close-enough" with a better face, then LC can be your choice.

I beens waitin' on a lady............well, some would call her a lady.......and some would call her something else.......and golly would they pay for it.That's Red Sonja for ya.Boss Fight's Ren Sonja, 1/12th scale figure. She is tangentially related to Marvel---I sought her out because of one appearance: Marvel Team-up #79 with Spider-Man. A GREAT Chris Claremont, John Byrne, Terry Austin story that took two of the unlikeliest characters to match-up.........and made it work. This is Boss Fights gal, and she's a great figure, if a little bit finicky. Watch the skirt, she's pantiless, like the first Angela, and it rides up if you just look at it funny--but there are some sweet spots ( no, not like THAT!!).Three ( count 'em) THREE portraits, axe and sword, couple of different armor pieces, extra hands and gauntlets. You can make her exact ( pretty much) outfit from Marvel Team-Up #79 and she scales really nicely with the first ML Spidey--the one that looks like Romita sr. ( and Byrne) drew him. She has alternate kit to guise her as her look from other publishers too, and I THINK ( but have not confirmed) that she may work good with the Toy Biz Legendary Heroes Conan, too. She's a pricey gal at about $85 Cdn, but what woman isn't, eh? I'm pleased as punch to have her, and she completes a long-sought collecting project to honour that Marvel story. Now I just need someone to fill in the role of Kulan Gath and then....................oh, and THEN.......

Mini Comic Banshee arrived today from Pulse. That completes the wave.

SpiderS - 2025-05-05 @ 10:43 pm

I got Maximum Spidey, Chameleon, Monet and Red Sonja (technically ex Marvel). Solid figures overall, Monet has truly beautiful head sculpt, Chameleon was done really well, Maximum Spidey is undoubtedly good but realizing that it's Spider-Man the most popular and profitable character in toy world makes me really wonder how unfair this price hike was considering they could easily offset any high production costs with the just the scale of production they get with character like Spider-Man. Red Sonja is almost great, skin tone they used is way too pale, almost inhuman and plasticy but otherwise solid figure with good sculpt, articulation and accessories.

Damn, expensive month:

Symbiote Spider-Man 3, Max Hulk, D+ Punisher, FF She-Hulk, Crossbones/ Masque, 2 Thunderbolts 2 packs

Now fingers crossed they don't ship the same month as well...

TheArrow - 2025-05-01 @ 4:25 pm

Scored ML ROM, shipped from Walmart. The figure is as expected, as others have reviewed, ( I am quite pleased with it) but I have one crit:The little "mini-comic" thing is a waste of plastic. They probably could have included an actual reprint of the #1 comic in it's place and given us some good value, but the plastic thing is a bit of a sad joke.

Neal - 2025-04-28 @ 5:16 pm

Mini Comic Adam Warlock arrived from Pulse.

greenlucario - 2025-04-23 @ 10:06 pm

Got Miles, Daken, and Rom from the mini comic wave, Maximum Spidey, and finished off the Genocide BAF. Crazy run over the last week with Legends.
