Fan Expo Canada 2018 - Hasbro Marvel Legends Panel Coverage

Jay Cochran - August 31, 2018
We are bringing you coverage of the Hasbro Marvel Legends panel taking place at the 2018 Fan Expo Canada. We will be bringing you coverage of anything new announced at the panel as it happens so be sure to update your browser periodically over the course of the next hour. Thanks to TroyZ for helping us out with coverage of the event.

On panel is Marvel Senior Design Manager Dwight Stall and Ryan Ting.

The panel has begun but right now they are just recapping stuff we have already see. This report will be dedicated to primarily the new things they reveal which will be towards the end of the panel.

They are showing the second wave of Black Panther Movie figures that were announced during SDCC. Its' confirmed Klaw will have two arms, a gun one and a normal one.

Now they are talking about the making of Marvel Legends and how they started planning for the X-Men Apocalypse wave in January 2017 for an August 2018 release.

Can take 4 weeks is a best case scenario to complete the sculpting of one figure and it's passed around to a number of different sculptors multiple times. Learn how to use Zbrush if you want to work at Hasbro according to Dwight.

New reveals include Alpha Flight member Guardian for 2019. Also announced is Wendigo for 2019. Other new figures announced are Mystique and Weapon X also for 2019. See images below.

No more planned variants for the line unless they screw up and have to make a correction.

Panel has ended. Stay-tuned for better images of these new figures coming up soon here on MarvelousNews.

I agree with both of you in saying that Wendigo looks off. I feel like its his parted human-esque hair style. It makes him look weird and more like a wolfman or something. Doesnt scream Wendigo to me. The overall look is pretty rad tho. I love that face sculpt.

anyhow. I wait for better pictures but I'm glad we are getting a redo on Guardian, the last one had a horrible paint job. Mystique look nice way better then the TB one. Wasn't expecting that Weapon X but another Wolverine remake off the list. (Next one should really be X-Force). But I'm excited for that Wendigo looks off to me. I know he is using the Sasquatch build but it's something else that seem wrong.

Also before some one (I have a good feeling who) goes one about the height of Wendigo should know that every Wendigo have different heights. so seeing one shorter is actually not that strange.

Ya, they're all redos, but not a damn one of them is not in need of or wothyof the Infinite treatment. Very few Toybiz originals still hold up well at all anymore. I'm happy, though I'm sure there's plenty of people that won't be. That's the beauty of a capitalist system. Speak with your dollars. If you like you buy. If not, feel free to pass. I personally will take a pass on the entire 2nd wave of BP and most of the 2nd vintage wave.

As far as the height of Wendigo, as a stand alone character I don't think the scale is wrong. He's always been kinda ambiguous in regards to the size he's portrayed in comics. He's just big and regardless of my feelings on how the Sasquatch figure turned out in scale to other BAF's (mostly to Juggernaut), that particular buck is larger than 90% of the others. The only reason I woulda hoped the size/height would be increased a bit is with the possibility of swap parts being included with the Wendigo itself or with future figures, to build a white Sasquatch.

Also, I do agree there's something not quite right about that Wendigo. Luckily it's still awaiting final approval. Maybe they'll figure it out.
