Who Could The Build-A-Figure For The Upcoming Marvel Legends Fantastic Four Wave Be???

Jay Cochran - October 05, 2019
This week Hasbro revealed their plans for a new 6 figure Fantastic Four themed wave of Marvel Legends figures that will be coming out in 2020. All six regular figures in the wave were announced which include the following:

Modern Fantastic Four Reed Richards

Modern Fantastic Four Invisible Woman

Modern Fantastic Four Johnny Storm

Modern Fantastic Four The Thing

Modern She-Hulk

Dr. Doom

The one figure we however do not know about in this wave is the Build-A-Figure. The Possibilities could be infinite, but we thought it would be fun if we narrowed it down to the Top 5 we think have the best chance of making the cut. These are not necessarily the ones we WANT to see most, just the ones we think have the best chance of being made. Obviously we could end up being totally wrong here, so treat this list as nothing more than speculation on our part, and feel free to share your own thoughts about who you think it will be in the COMMENTS SECTION below.

Our Top-5 List Of Possible Fantastic Four Wave Build-A-Figure Choices:

5. Galactus

The Devourer of Worlds is no stranger to the Marvel Legends world as both Toy Biz and Hasbro have done versions of the mighty Galactus in the past. While definitely a fan-favorite, we really don't see him getting the plastic treatment again unless Hasbro can make him really, really tall. This in our opinion makes him a more likely candidate as a future Haslab project than just a normal Build-A-Figure.

4. Dragon Man

Dragon Man is another character who is no stranger to the Marvel Legends world as Toy Biz did him back in the day as part of a Fantastic Four sub-line. Even though it wasn't even released as an actual Build-A-Figure it was a great looking figure that stands up well even by today's modern standards. That's not to say the character couldn’t use a modern update, we just would rather see others get made before him I guess.

3. Annihilus

This is one Hasbro has actually already done as a Build-A-Figure back when they first took over the license from Toy Biz. While most the figures in that wave did not come out that great, the Annihilus was actually pretty good. This is another one that we certainly think could be improved upon with a modern update but we just don't see it happening just yet.

2. Awesome Android

Awesome Android is one we think would be perfect for the Build-A-Figure treatment which has never actually been done before by either Hasbro or Toy Biz. While we think this would be a great choice, we kinda feel like the fact his creator The Thinker isn't being released as a regular figure in the wave makes him an unlikely candidate for this round. We definitely think Android and Thinker could be strong candidates for a future Fantastic Four wave, and you know more will be coming now that the FF are back with the House of Mouse.

1. Super Skrull

Super Skrull is our #1 choice of having the best chance of being the Build-A-Figure for this wave. For one thing Skrulls are popular now. Skrulls seemingly are going to have a large presence in this next phase of the MCU which never hurts for added notoriety. Our main reason though for feeling this will be the Build-A-Figure is because there have been indications of a Super Skrull figure being made in the recent past. You may recall a year or so ago that reports came to light showing a retail computer listing suggesting Super Skrull would be released as a Walgreens exclusive. That never happened but our guess is that figure will now end up being released as the Build-A-Figure for this wave. Toy Biz did a Super Skrull figure back in the day as part of that same sub-line they released Dragon Man in, but that version was on the small side and that one could definitely use a modern update in our opinion.

I'd love to see the Watcher...and the Impossible Man! All kinds of possibilities with effects there.

Asides from Galactus, there's really no other large sized FF character I would care to have or can think of. Hasbro already made a crap happy meals looking Kree Sentry so I highly doubt they'll ever revisit him & make him in his proper Sentinel sized scale. I just want a classic John Byrne 80s FF boxset with a properly scaled Thing in the 6.5 scale. A classic Inhumans boxset ala Alpha Flight via Amazon would be very welcome as well. I'd like them to be sporting the costumes they had in the 2nd season of the 94' FF cartoon. BB, Karnak, Triton, Gorgon & Crystal. I've always been meh on Medusa due to her hair powers never translating well to figure form.

I would LOVE an In humans set of some kind...heck of ANY kind!!

If you wanted to dohim justice in accordance with their 6" scale, your estimate is probablyup there. Don't think you have to worry about Galactus just yet....don't know thatthey'd ever do a figure that size. Regardless, it would be cost-prohibitive.

Its way easier for them to do Skrull (he's not much taller than 6ft anyway) or Annihilus; body bucks already exist for both. Modify Sauron a bit and you've got Annihilus' wings, use either buck from Bishop/Thor/Omega Red etc. and Super Skrull is done. Frankly I woudnt have picked Galactus or Awesome Android for the top 5 possible choices anyway. The Watcher or Blastarr make more sense. My money's on Annihilus or Super Skrull.

Ok well as we all know now, Super Skrull was INDEED the BAF. I'm hoping the next Fantastic Four wave will give us either Annihilus, Dragon Man, or Lockjaw as the BAF. They could also finish up the Inhumans by putting Lockjaw as a BAF for a Triton, Gorgon, Karnak and Medusa set...with a bonus alternate Thing head and stretching arms for Mr. Fantastic. I know that's a "stretch" no pun intended, but think how fans would DROOL for that box set!

i would love a Galactis but it would be way to small in BAF form. ASuper Skrull would be cool tho

I've been thinking the same thing for a SHIELD set. Wouldn't hate a similar Kree set for that matter . . . or the Hand.

We need to see more Army Builder sets, but that is/has been another topic

I would like to Skrulls sold as a Walgreen exclusive or army builder 2 packs. Having to buy 6-8 figures for one Skrull would be unfortunate. Ronan would be cool. Dragon-man is a void spot on almost any collector who started after 2010. I would vote to get Dragon-man, But Annihulus would be a great option too! But more than ever that new doom is a masterpiece.

What if they went and gave us a total dark-horse character by doing someone like Psycho-Man?

Wouldn't mind that, and frankly the constant stream of "redos" gets old after a while. Besides, there'll be plenty time for Galactus, Super Skrull, etc. later.

True. Psycho-Man and his ilk would be welcome....and would make the eventual appearance of "bigger name" characters all the sweeter...
