It wasn't a reference to Star Lord specifically, more like that they usually miss some accessories. I agree with you though, it would be nice to see him with the helmet in the movie.

I was thinking this helmet would look pretty cool on the new team suit. I have plenty of Star Lord helmets from the earlier 6 " releases so it will be easy enough to pop one on in case he does sport it in the film.
