@AtlantisI would very much welcome that. Guess maybe they could just include this Kirby Lockjaw faceplate with, say, F4 Crystal or something.

I'm just gonna chill on the fence with this one for now. Overpriced to me for sure, considering Lockjaw's lack of articulation. Not that I have a problem with him as is... but for the price of it, he totally should've came with another faceplate at least -- like I dunno... KIRBY?!?!

Lockjaw Marvel

Would that Lockjaw were to herald new updated Inhumans (the whole shebang, and yes that includes the not-long-ago issued Karnak)....!

I think my perspective on this is such: I have no FOMO. I've reached a point easily 10 times now where I've plateaued with Marvel Legends, ever since Wave 1..........back before that big space-rock hit the Yucatan peninsula. Back when I honestly thought that wave 1 was all we were ever gonna see because ML was a toy line JUST TOO COOL to possibly exist ( and there were precedents for that!).Well, boy, was i wrong. And here we are and ML is still beaucoup cool. I expect it to go on for years yet, as it well should. I'm on a plateau again......we'll see how this all pans out.

$70? They're out of their minds. This would've been $35-$40, tops, a couple years ago.

Agreed and again, its all about getting the value for your dollar. Sure, people have been pining for a Lockjaw on this forum since it began....but did you ever think when they finally got around to making him, he'd have almost no articulation (looks like maybe 10 poa?) Especially when hasbo's already done fully articulated animals for both their GI Joseph and Marvel lines?? This is a figurine with an action figure for $70.00, practically the same trick they played for that Phoenix. Using inflation as the excuse just won't work- hasbo raises prices to increase their profits, and they can do it because they have virtually no competition with the Marvel line. Too many people are buying into the notion that its "inflation" or "they'll never make it again, so get it now".

They definitely put love into this, but the reality is also that these aren't really marquee characters. If they're already doing smaller runs of even the big name characters and increasingly moving waves not tied to movies or TV shows to online-only, it wouldn't surprise me if these two were also produced in smaller numbers.

This could go on sale as many predict for at least $60, however, there's depressing possibility that this price is the way it is because they had significantly lower production run this time and wanted to avoid having remaining stock go for liquidation like with previous releases that end up in Ollie's and such outlets. And it does seems like that smaller production runs are the new normal for the industry.

I don't know. To my POV, I think a lower production run says there's a lack of confidence in the item selling, so they want to hedge things. But that same thinking says that they would put LESS effort into the item itself--the design of this. Crystal looks incredible, LockJaw looks like a smart FRUGAL toy design for what it's trying to do. Someone really cared about this set, put some thought and effort into it, and it seems counter-intuitive to make LESS of something made really well.

I'm on both sides of this argument. I insta ordered, with zero hesitation due to the new characters. Like Reno, I'm always gonna get actually new characters. And yes Lockjaw will be solid, not hollow, just like Blob. But remember people did complain quite a bit about Blob. Meanwhile, I waited for Zemo to go onsale due to that lazy repaint of Zola. I am waiting for a sale on Strange and Wong for the same reason. Zemo is literally my favorite villain and Wong has been high on my needs list for years and years. But I need to offset some buys to make up for "must haves" like this one. I still feel like a rube for buying that Phoenix, but it looks like a great figure. Idk. If the Crystal and LJset had been 65 I think there would have been considerably less griping, as weird as that sounds. I think a big big reason for the complaints is the speed of the increases. It took a decade to go from 7.99 to 14.99. Now the 22.99 pricing lasted about a year until it went to 25.99. We can rationally talk about ALL the outside and inside factors, but it doesn't feel right. And being that none of these are needs, as much as part of me thinks they are, it is harder and harder to swallow. I truly can't imaging the pain of you Canadians and Aussies. Every year I tell myself, this might be it. And then they "pull me back In!" with something I personally can't say no to. I will say at these prices, they are gonna have to chill tf out with the lazy repaints and letting obvious mistakes in body size and costume decor get past them. Especially if it comes with a baf piece. But for now, I still love getting and opening my new figures. Putting them with their teammates, or entering them into a giant battle on a living room bookcase, ect. And when I do that, I'm not thinking about money one bit. But at some point it'll be unavoidable.

But now i have reached a limit, and if moaning about it isn't just moaning......it's a signal that a threshold is being reached. Sure we all did voice complaints about it........and they were grudging ones.Personally, I got no grudge left in me.I have a cold hardcore stop. There is NOTHING Hasbro can do to pull me over that price threshold--it may as well be MEZCO One:12.

Oh, I get it and good for you for knowing where your line is and being able to say enough is enough. I'm that way with some things, but this line is my weakness. However I am drawing the line more and more with buying re-makes of the same characters over and over and just saying what I have is good enough. New previously unmade characters, though? I buy those 100% of the time, with no exceptions.

I am like you with other things though, like vehicles. I refuse to pay over $25,000 for any new vehicle, ever. It also doesn't help that I refuse to drive a "car." Fortunately I work 100% from home and drive less than 6000 miles per year so the mid-sized SUV that I bought new in 2018 for under $20k still has less than 40,000 miles on it. At that rate I may never need to buy another one... at least until they outlaw internal combustion engines, but that's a completely different topic.

Inflation sucks, period -- and we all individually have to figure out what we're willing to pay for and what we're not.

TheArrow - 2024-09-06 @ 7:24 pm

Like I said, and was quoted--I'm out. There's some good sweet in that set, but too much sour in the price. I've had history with ML since BEFORE the beginning. I was paying $20 a pop in a small town while everyone else was paying $10 elsewhere---because I loved the line. Point of saying that: I wasn't giving up on it.But now i have reached a limit, and if moaning about it isn't just moaning......it's a signal that a threshold is being reached. Sure we all did voice complaints about it........and they were grudging ones.Personally, I got no grudge left in me.I have a cold hardcore stop.
