We have a couple of new trailers that have hit the internet for the upcoming ThunderBolts movie which hits theaters on May 2.
Both trailers focus on the seeming main threat of the movie which so far has only been seen as a shadowed out figure in all the video clips. The only actual look at the character known as Bob/Sentry comes from last weeks
Hasbro Marvel Legends reveals.
In this new trailer that debuted we hear for what I believe is the first time the Sentry name is mentioned. We also see his belt buckle.
We also got this trailer today which is similar but different that refers to the shadowy figure as "The Void".
Now in the comics Bob Reynolds, Sentry and The Void are essentially all the same person. The Void is the dark and destructive entity that bonded to Reynolds when he became the Sentry, and acts as a counterforce and embodiment of his negative aspects.
How this plays out in the movie is unknown but we do know that the character will survive and have some kind of role in the upcoming
Avengers: Doomsday movie as the actors (Lewis Pullman) name was one mentioned in the recent
Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement.
Whether in this movie and/or Doomsday Bob will be a good guy, bad guy or both remains to be seen.
I'm totally excited about this movie, The more I see the more I like, I have high hopes for this, I mean for starters it has a dark and grounded vibe, and I already really love this team, Red Guardian, Bucky, Walker and Yelena are great characters, and I think it's clear they are going to be great together in this movie, Seeing more of Sentry also is promising, he seems like a real threat and very ominous.
I'll be there day 1!
Hurm...the linked trailers are both "The Void" versions. Was "The Sentry" version pulled already?

Ghost and Taskmaster's new suits look sick and Yelena and Red Guardian are pretty good looking updates as well. I could take or leave Bucky and US Agent since they seem to be more or less the same but I'd get them to round out the team for sure. Honestly, they're sitting on a perfect fan-channel wave, the main 6 and then Sentry as the BAF. Please don't disappoint us on this movie or on F4 Hasbro...
I just don't have much faith in Hasbro pulling this thing off in a sensible manner. If you look at it there is enough ammo here to make 2 legit waves. They could do two 50/50 waves interchanging MCU characters with comic characters. Example. Wave one has MCU Red Guardian and Comic Bucky and wave two has Comic Red Guardian and MCU Bucky. And then both waves have some buns kicking BAFs that people just can't say no to. Maybe characters like Atlas who has to be the frontrunner but there's also the larger version of Beetle which was masterfully done by Toybiz many years ago or how about Ironclad or even an updated Abomination on a model that matches up to the current Hulk model. Or even Bloodstrike where they can dip from the well one more time with the Caliban model. The Thunderbolts roster is almost as endless as the Avengers at this point. There is a lot of potential here but I really honestly think Hasbro is bound to drop the ball again.
I just hope this prompts them to give us at least a few more comic T bolts. Fixer is pretty high on my list. And I feel like we are due for an MTO. Atlas would be pretty epic!

I'd like a full wave with the whole team, but honestly I don't know what to expect anymore... All I know is that I want Sentry. He's the only must for me.

Trailer looks good to me. I never followed the Thunderbolts in the comics, so I go into this with a very open mind. Again US Agent seems a bit restrained in this going by the scenes in the trailer and given what I know of his character. Nooot sure how I feel about that, because I kind of like him when he's a bit more prickly and intense, if that makes sense. Any how, still looks fun, so I'm looking forward to it!
Well after all that pessimism by us, I would like to say that I'm still hopeful. I do feel like it finally got through to them that most fans aren't little kids, and now DD is gonna be "more adult". And from the trailer it seems like it indeed IS! They put a lot on hold that was half baked, or un asked for. Things are starting to connect a bit more. Covid and the Strikes really did a number on everything but its recovering. So it's not all bad. In the meantime we have been getting some great figures, and I've really been liking the X Men comics for the first time in a long time. Doom is in charge of the real 616 and it should get interesting. So yeah, as big of a pessimist as I am in all things in real life, I am cautiously optimistic about the MCU. For all the warts, it is still better than not most of the time, not always, but more than not. Still seeing Cap 4 on Thursday, and still haven't scrapped my subs from the comic book store so yeah...I'm here for it!

While he's at it, stop wasting our time explaining why a character is called their name and dresses like a super hero/ villain. We are way past needing 4 movies and a series to explain why the Scarlet Witch is the Scarlet Witch. Just call them by their names and put them in their dang costumes and be done. We get it. The Normies get it. We ALL get it. The quote from Giancarlo about wanting to "explore Sidewinders snake side"?...I'm like, why did the producers wait? We probably won't get another shot, and if we do, it'll be 2030. Just put the snake guy in his snake suit.
And for God's sake stop with the, look how dumb it would be to dress in the actual costume bit. It really is like saying, "hey comic fan...you are dumb for liking what you like!" Especially since the huuuuuge pop at most theaters when we FINALLY saw Wolvie in a fairly comic accurate suit with the mask on......
Ok I'm done, lol. Deep breaths...
Oh they've been telling us we're dumb for a long time now. Dumb for not liking a screenplay. Dumb for not liking a character they're forcing out front even though that character was never liked to begin with. Dumb for not liking the stupid changes they make to certain characters for clout. Dumb for not liking a plot and unnecessary dialogue that does nothing to progress the story. Dumb for not liking it when the actors attack the fans. Dumb for wanting the actors to actually look like the actual character. Dumb for having our doubts when they hire some 22 year old with a worthless Underwater Basket Weaving degree straight out of college whose career highlights are a few college paper editorials, some Youtube shorts and a couple of co-writing credits on a two episodes of Steven Universe who claim to be massive fans of the source material but are clearly too young to be fans of the source material and then put them in charge of a massive 100 million dollar budget. Dumb for not going out to see a massive budget project that they've tried to make very clear was not made for the fans. Dumb for wanting them to just shut up and make a good movie honoring the characters and tradition of the book. Dumb for basically not liking and agreeing with everything they do. Yes we're all the dumb ones. Never do they ever stop to wonder if it might be something they're doing wrong. To them D&W was just a wildly popular anomaly. And I really don't see it stopping any time soon.
