He definitely looks bulked up and "gamerverse" esque.I still am not crazy about the way they cut the pelvis and thighs. There comes a point where...the figure become so segmented it looks more like a robot imo. I dunno, may look ok when posed and not standing. I have one on preorder...but I may cancel. Not sure. I do have a SHF I like... spacer.png

This guy is a work of art. Best Ford likeness in 1/12 imo. Even better than Mezco.

Love the concept, but oh man those thigh joints are hideous!!!

I agree. I would buy that figure in a heartbeat if the legs werent so weird looking I also wish they would have filled in the web lines, but even that wouldnt have been a deal breaker for me.

I still don't know how you get so far into production on a figure only to then realize licensing is an issue.I've seen a few theories online...

Could be artist thing?Something to do with ZD Toys, since ZD has the Gamerverse license and they primarily sell their figures in HK, China and TaiwanMaybe hasbro had something to do with it?Maybe Sony because I think they have exclusive rights for Spider-Man video games at the moment. So, an artist thing I don't think would prevent a figure? The artist would have to retain the rights to that particular character. But a lot of these artists were working for Marvel. Either in-house or as "work for hire". As such Marvel being the publisher would retain all rights to any and all likenesses/versions of a character produced by an artist. Heck Marvel Legends is using John Byrne's art for the Inhumans. Maximum Spider-Man is clearly using Todd McFarlane. As for ZD Toys? I think this may be more likely. If ZD Toys already had a particular license? Another studio probably would not be able to use it. This as noted seems to be a regional issue. It's kind of like we saw with DC. McFarlane had the "Master license" to DC figures. But now that Mattel will be taking over? I think what McFarlane will probably do? Is more static posed figures like he does for Marvel. He can't create Marvel Figures because Hasbro has that 'master license' with Legends. But he can make static posed figures. But as others noted? Legends sell in those regions too.Hasbro having something to do with it? It's possible. But why then are only those asian regions seeing cancelation? While Hasbro does release figures in those regions? I don't think they are too bothered. They don't really go out of their way to get a mafex canceled. Especially for figures that would be insanely desirable like No Way Home Spidey, etc. Those figures usually carry a premium price tag and Hasbro being the cheaper option probably isn't too concerned.I don't think Sony enters the equation at all. If it were the particular PS4/PS5 Spider-Man? Then maybe. But Sony would have very little if any input on a figure that is designed to evoke a "Capcom" aesthetic. And while Sony may have rights to Spider-Man in it's own games, Marvel would have final say. I think that's why we saw the different packaging for Amazing Spider-Man because Sony still has the film rights. And even then? Three Zero is making a Advanced Suit Spidey. Sony's spidey license is entirely separate of other games. Spidey is in games like Midnight Suns, Tokon, and yes even the re-release MvC collection. I think the most obvious answer is that it probably has something to do with Disney/Marvel at the top.I say this because WotC bungled the licensing for Marvel's MTG Set. They couldn't secure rights to create digital versions of the printed cards so WotC had to make an entirely new alternate digital set for MTG Arena. Why? Because Disney/Marvel were afraid it would compete with Marvel Snap. But how did Bandai Namco make it that far without sorting this out? That's all speculative of course. But I think the regional licensing seems to be the more likely answer? The figure is still available for preorder on BBTS.Here is a reply a reddit user received from BBTS. spacer.png

Yes and all you have to do is pay double maybe even triple the price for it.

You got that right, friend. Yet, this one may actually be worth paying for!

If we just ignore this modern SHF crotch/leg articulation they made a truly great figure, if they had mafex or even yamaguchi style articulation there I would gladly pre order this figure but it's just too hard to ignore, this has to be most needlessly complicated and overblown articulation scheme that crushes with figure's clean and simple aesthetics. Maybe if they make player two dark blue variant I might consider getting it after all, because in that case it should be way less noticeable than on bright baby blue.

Still not the biggest fan of how the hips are cut. I kind of prefer Mafex but...I dunno. I am tempted. But SHF tends to scale small compared to Legends.

spacer.pngAnd with Marvel scaling up Wolverine? Having a smaller Spider-man might look goofy next to a beefed up Wolverine? I may wait and see if Legends release a bulked up Spidey in the gamerverse line. But then by that time the SHF one will probably have sold out.

So we have...

spacer.png spacer.png spacer.pngI could totally see Legends re-releasing Maximum Spider-Man in a lighter color scheme. Also the SHF iirc only has the one head. The webbing is sculpted but a person could use a gundam marker if they wanted. I prefer the hips on the Mafex. And having the Mafex Tobey I think that is a great balance of Aesthetic vs. posability. And I think Mafex tends to scale smaller than Legends as well. Ugh I am so conflicted...Maybe I just buy a 2nd Maximum Spidey and repaint the blue. But then the red will similarly be too dark.
