Keeping in mind I don't actually have the new
Marvel Legends Deluxe Strong Guy figure from Hasbro in-hand, I wanted to do my best thanks to the magic of photoshop to give you a comparison of this new figure with the previous Build-A-Figure version that I do have in-hand. The new figure by the way is now available for pre-order at places like our sponsors
BigBadToyStore.com and
Entertainment Earth. It is also available on
Amazon.
Anyway beside the Deluxe figure having 2 new headsculpts 3 extra hands and a nifty dumbbell accessory, there are some other differences between the two figures. The new Deluxe figure has added paint applications. This is most noticeable with the painted zipper on the shirt as well as the white background on the chest X symbol. The top of the shoulder pads on the new Deluxe figure have also been painted blue as opposed to all silver like seen on the BAF version. It's hard to say which one is more comic book accurate since the pads where portrayed in the pages of the X-Factor comic multiple ways. I will say I think the paint looks better on the newer figure.
The last difference from what I can tell from the images is the new Deluxe figure has more of an ab-crunch type joint at the mid-section. How much more pose-ability that gives the figure is hard to say without actually having it in-hand.
Now whether any of this is enough of a incentive to pay $40 to add it to your collection if you already have the BAF version is not for me to say. That is something you will have to make up your own mind about.

I have the BAF and I've still pre-ordered this new deluxe to replace it. The new one just pops so much more. I'll likely keep my extra head that I had for the BAF, although I expect the skin tones are going to match (based upon the images).
In general, I tend to prefer the BAFs that are re-released "whole" later. Ares, M'Baku, Kingpin and Rhino are all off the top of my head examples of this.
The Mandroid Armor (with an AIM variant), Mindless One and Kree Sentry are all examples of prior BAFs that I'd really like to see re-issued as single carded figures. I'm sure there are more, but those army builders should be slam dunks.

I at this point can't think of too many BAF's I would have liked to build but didn't because the Wave sucked or mainly wasn't for me...but Mr. Hyde I'd like, and would be nice if they gave him less meth smoker face, Stilt-Man I would say Onslaught but apprently we are getting him...despite me needing only 2 pieces for him. But figures like Man-Thing, Sasquatch come to mind as....gosh give people them again, Sas is so important for AF, and just...like damn that Man-Thing only took me like 3+ years to build.
They have done a pretty good job of getting BAF's out as single released in the past few years, so I suspected they will continue to.
The Sasquatch could easily be done in white too, and Hyde could be done with his cape and classic head instead of that modern T Bolts look.
Loving the new Strong Guy missed out on the BAF due to the number of figures I didn't want, so I'll be picking him up

I may try to build Zabu. I already have Cable and ordered Kazar to go with Rogue/Shana. So I'd only need a few and they are fairly easy to come by. Kind of hoping Strange tales ends up at Ollies where I could get the entire wave for $40 like i did for Khonshu.

Sorry, I thought it was the same figure, just with extras like the heads and hands...the abs have been remolded?

I am very pleased they did get around t re-relasing him because he's such a important member of X-Factor. I will pass.

Thanks for the side by sides and list about Strong Guy JayC! It's funny how conflicted I am.about this one. I went from Must Have, to wait for a sale, and back. With a lot of these redos, I get conflicted due to how much I spent building it, or time finding it, ect. In the past this woulda been a no brainer insta buy. This David-Stroman version of X Factor was huge to me. At the time it came out it felt like "my" team.

They're not katanas. The Maximum Deadpool figure's swords are ninjato. They're straighter and shorter than katanas.
