Marvel Officially Names Benedict Cumberbatch For "Doctor Strange"

Today, Marvel announces that Benedict Cumberbatch ("The Hobbit", "Sherlock") has been cast as "Doctor Strange"

“Stephen Strange’s story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity,” said producer Kevin Feige. “In 2016, Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character."

Doctor Stephen Strange is a neurosurgeon who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions. The film will be directed by Scott Derrickson, with a script written by Jon Spaihts, and a release date of Nov. 4, 2016.
