Rektangular sent us word of some mysterious UPC numbers he discovered for some Avengers Marvel Legends figures that look to be in the works from Hasbro. Some of the figures we had seen before while others were totally new to us. After doing some further research we discovered it looks like these figures are actually listed on
Barnes & Noble's website. The figures listed are as follows:
- Blizzard
- Valkyrie
- Thundra
- Dr. Strange
- Marvel Now Iron Man
- War Machine
- Hero Number One
Click on the links above to see the figures listed on their website.
So a couple things to
NOTE about these listings.
First, even though these are listed on Barnes & Noble's website, we are still going to consider these to be rumored. We have seen in the past where figures get listed on a retail website or computer and then never actually materialize. The unreleased
Marvel Legends Blade figure that was listed on Wal-Mart's website a few years ago comes to mind. So until Hasbro officially confirms these, we will treat them as rumor.
Second, we are making an assumption that these will be a Barnes & Noble exclusive. If you have been into a Barnes & Noble recently you probably have seen they have been stepping up their toy sections quit nicely. Last year we saw Walgreens begin to carry Marvel Legends with an exclusive
Agent Venom figure, so its not a big leap to think Barnes & Noble could be doing the same thing. Their website is also the only place that currently has these listed. That being said we can't 100% confirm these will be exclusive to the bookseller.
Third, we have no idea what the
Build-A-Figure for this wave might be. We assume it will have one. We also have no idea what the figure listed as
"Hero Number One" could be. It is a weird name for a figure listing to be sure. For the
Marvel Now Iron Man we are assuming this refers to his Black and Gold armor. However the Cosmic Armor which had a figure based on it, and was released in last years Guardians of the Galaxy wave was also part of the Marvel Now era. If this is an exclusive wave, we suppose it is not out of the realm of impossibility that they could be re-issuing it.
Fourth,
Blizzard and
Valkyrie are figures we have seen previously by Hasbro. Hasbro showed Valkyrie off last October during their NYCC press event and Blizzard a couple years ago at SDCC.
One final note. We couldn't help notice
Thundra who is the mother of a character named
Lyra is listed in this wave. Lyra is one of those figures Hasbro showed off a couple years ago that ended up in limbo. We have no idea if the one figure has a baring on the other but it was a connection we couldn't help notice.
So while we are on the subject of rumors, we might as well tell you about a couple of others that have been floating around the net recently.
Walgreens looks to be getting another exclusive this year. Walgreens Toy Buyer
Steven Anne posted on Twitter ealier this month the following mysterious Tweet:
It is strongly believed that the "irredeemable" year is in reference to some kind of Ant-Man Legends exclusive, since the Ant-Man character is often referred to as "The Irredeemable Ant-Man". The second part of his Tweet that referrers "Electrigying" is believed to be an indication that they will also be getting another 6" Star Wars Black Series exclusive as well. Likely an electrified Vader or Luke variant from Return of the Jedi or perhaps an Emperor figure with shooting electricity effects.
Finally
Rektangular lets us know about one other rumor making its rounds on the message boards about the possible line-up for Hasbro's
Ant-Man Marvel Legends. Now it is said these were found on Amazon, however we have found no such listings on their website so we can't confirm this in any way. Never-the-less the rumored line-up is as follows:
- Tigershark (Another figure Hasbro showed a couple years ago but ended up in limbo)
- Bulldozer (Another figure Hasbro showed a couple years ago but ended up in limbo)
- Giant Man (Which seems odd for a non-Build-A-Figure)
- Ant-Man
- Grim Reaper
- Wasp
UPDATE: We have found the listings for these Ant-Man figures on Amazon.

We will hopefully be able to get more details on all these things in a couple weeks during the
New York Toy Fair. Our coverage of that event will kick-off with Hasbro on
Saturday, Febuary 14, so be sure to check back then. Also check out a video Rektangular made where he shares his own thoughts on some of these rumors.
