20th Century Fox's next installment in Marvel's X-Franchise, X-Men: Days Of Future Present hasn't even been released and it looks like director Bryan Singer is already making plans for the next X-Men movie. In a surprise tweet today Singer tweeted the following:
In the comics Apocalypse is a powerful evil mutant who was originally created by Louise and Walter Simonson in X-Factor #6. Since then the character has been used many times in the X-Titles including an alternate reality storyline where Apocalypse had actually taken over the entire world titled "Age Of Apocalypse."
It is unclear at this time what the exact plot for this movie will be or how the Days of Future Present X-Men movie which opens on May 23, 2014 will impact this one. There are also rumors that 20th Century Fox is planning a X-Force movie which would likely involve a mutant character known as Cable, who in the comics was the son of Cyclops that was taken to the future and raised only to return to the present to battle his arch-nemesis, which by coincidence happens to be Apocalypse, so could there be a tie-in there?
The tentative release date for X-Men: Apocalypse has been set for May 27, 2016.
