Word is that actor Benjamin Walker (Flags of our Fathers) is being considered for the role of Hank McCoy/Beast in the upcoming "X-Men: First Class" movie which is being directed by Matthew Vaughn. The character of Beast was played by actor Kelsey Grammer in X-Men 3. That version of the character depicted him with blue fur, though in the comics, in the early days Hank McCoy sported a much more normal human appearance and it is unknown if this rumor turns out to be true, what version of the Beast character Vaughn will go with.
So far the only confirmed cast member for this movie is James McAvoy who will play the part of Charles Xavier. Actor Michael Fassbender has also been offered the role of Magneto, but no word yet on whether he is going to except the part or not.
X-Men FIRST CLASS begins production this summer for a June 3, 2011 release. Bryan Singer, who conceived the story for FIRST CLASS and directed the original “X-Men” and its sequel “X2,” is producing along with Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg.
X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, following the classic Marvel mythology, charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known.
