Hasbro held a pre-NYCC event this evening where they showed to members of the media new product lines they have coming out early next year. One of the product lines shown was their Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie based line.
The main thing that will interest collectors for this line is the new 6" line of
Captain America Infinite Legends. Shown were the new
Hydra Soldier and the Build-A-Figure for the wave which will be a
S.H.I.E.L.D. Mandroid. We also got a look at the packaging for this new line. One thing of note is that both the Hydra Soldier and upcoming A.I.M. Solider appear to be swap/variant figures, which somewhat contradict the information we were told about these last summer as the San Diego Comic Con. Back in July they told us these figures would ship very similarly to how Toy Biz did it several years ago with the Marvel Legends Giant-Man series. There were no members of the Marvel Brand team at the event tonight for us to get clarification about this, but we did speak with members of Hasbro's PR team who thought the swap figures would be shipping at the same time as the regular figures. In the recent Marvel Legends waves, the swap figure were released in later assortments which caused many of them to be delayed or canceled. The Hasbro PR folks were not 100% sure about this and said they would get back with us in the next couple days with more information on how these figures will be released.
The packaging shows that you will need to get both waves to complete the
Mandroid Build-A-Figure and that the first wave will include
Marvel Now Captain America,
Baron Zemo, and the
Red Skull which you can see below, with the Hydra and A.I.M. Soldiers being swap figures.
The second wave is hidden on the packaging, but will likely include movie versions of
Black Widow, Winter Soldier and
Captain America, all of which we saw at
SDCC.
