Marvel Legends X-Men Bonebreaker Build-A-Figure Wave Update

Marvel Legends X-Men Bonebreaker Build-A-Figure Wave Update

Jay Cochran - January 11, 2022
Last month Hasbro during their last live-stream confirmed and gave us our first look at the next Marvel Legends X-Men themed wave which will include figures of Siryn, Classic Havok, Darwin, Wolverine With Heated Claws, Classic Sabretooth, Maggott and Vulcan. The Build-A-Figure for the wave will be Reaver's member Bonebreaker. For those looking to get your hands on this wave, you will want to mark your calender's for January 27, because that is when it should be going up for pre-order everywhere that carries Marvel Legends. I wouldn't be surprised if the wave doesn't start showing up overseas around that time as well. You can check out images from last months live-stream for these figures below.

I dig that Maggott, I just wish they'd make it look more Madureira. I know I sound like a broken record but he's always been my favorite X artist and so many of these recent figures, especially the AOA waves, just feel kinda....meh...to me personally because I associate those designs so much with his art.

Those are exactly the choices errors that make me scratch my head when you say "practically perfect". Its a good figure, to be sure. But if hasbro put out a Captain America all light gray vertical stripes except for one red, and glued his shield to his arm, that couldn't be called practically perfect. And neither is this, in light of the fact that we know they know and have done better for Dr. Strange.

Maybe, maybe I wouldnt be so hard about the demon emblem paint, had they not glued that cloak on like that. Its such an obvious, snide swipe at the fans....and so unnecessary. Because if they made Dr. Strange perfectly this time, and then down the road they make a new one (totally pinless, maybe add a feature where the Eye can be be opened/closed), fans are still gonna buy it. And of course we likely WILL get another classic doctor down the road.

Dude you need to let it go. Alot of people don't mind the cape stuck to the figure since they will have him with the cape on it anyway or the miscolored emblem. So if someone says they like it despite that then just let them.

"...that Doctor Strange is practically perfect (and I am a huge fan)... only thing that could have made it better would have been a detachable cape (but not a problem), and a lighter blue or white on the design on his shirt...."

Im just getting into Legends, I told myself I was just going to get the early 90s Xmen team and thats all I needed. Yeah thats not going so well. That being said, Bonebreaker is a must have for me along with Havok. The Havok from Juggernaught wave was close.....but just not right. This one fits how I remember Havok from comic days. Siryn looks awesome, Sabretooth....will do. I'll be honest. I'll have to google who the other figures are. I'll be buying them for BAF, but there is a good chance I'll sell them off after the BAF is completed.

I really love this wave. I have waiting for this baf for a long time. Adding the pretty-boy someday to the group would be amazing. My only complaint is that Sabretooth looks like he is related to the sue storm figure just released. Maybe second cousins.

The day after my birthday...cannot wait.

Im wanting the collar and will be painting it on as soon as I get him. HAVOK is one of my faves from wayyyyyy back. He will be featured on my GS shelf and my Outback shelf. Now to get Outback Psylocke, Rogue and Longshot!

He did have the collar when he debuted in the 70s (actually '69 I think), but shortly after it was gone and since then the outfit had always been a solid black head-to-toe body suit, "mask" ( I say that because it doesn't hide his identity whatsoever), and elaborate "rings" headdress with the red jewel in the center (Neal Adams must've really liked Mardi Gras). But I can see what you're saying 'cause he even had it when the X-Men were revived in Giant Size X-Men #1; he also wore it in #94...they didn't really start changing the suit until around the 90s.

Ya I guess Im just use to the collar as I remember him drawn with it more so than not. But it is what it is; still lookin killer if I must say so myself.

I'm admittedly a bit torn on this wave.

It has a ton of characters that I want as a completionist; but given that Havok's accessory is being shown and no one else's are, I have to assume that everyone is coming with nil. Which is a bit of a massive bummer for Siryn and Vulcan. This is a wait and see scenario for me, if the price keeps climbing, but the number of extras decreases (While McFarlane and NECA remain relatively steady at their price-points), then I might end up taking a break from collecting.

Sabretooth is lookin big weird to me still, but I agree on Havok his design is plenty basic so I wonder why theyd not bother adding that simple neck deco. It wouldve looked truly classic then.
