Mark Ruffalo who took over the role of Bruce Banner, AKA The Incredible Hulk from Ed Norton in Marvel's Avengers movie and will soon be reprising his role for the upcoming Avengers sequel recently spoke to Digital Spy about the possibilty of a second Hulk stand-alone movie. This is what he said:
"I think they are, for the first time, entertaining the idea of it," Ruffalo told Digital Spy today (June 17). "When we did The Avengers it was basically 'No!', and now there is some consideration for it.
"But there's still nothing definitive, not even a skeletal version of what it would be. I look forward to going down that road, if we could crack that nut."
Honestly it's hard to ascertain if there is really anything for Hulk fans to get excited about from Ruffalo's comments. While I am sure at some point or another the studio has considered the possibility of making movies for every character in Marvel's vast library, the fact is if nothing at this point is even at a "skeletal" stage, it's hard to imagine they would have plans for another Hulk movie anytime soon. After all we know Marvel already has their movies
mapped out until 2028, and if a second Hulk movie wasn't already under consideration by the studio after the character rose in popularity from it's appearance in the first Avengers movie, it is hard to see the studio really seriously considering a change now. Of course it is rumored that Hulk will have a greater presence in Avengers: Age of Ultron, so it is always possible that the studio could be thinking ahead and making tentative plans for the Jade Giant's future, assuming all goes well with the next Avengers movie.
Anyway see Ruffalo's comments in full in the video interview below.
