Thor: Ragnarok Teaser Trailer Breakdown

Today we were treated to our first trailer for the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok movie from Marvel Studios. While the trailer has more of a Guardians of the Galaxy feel to it than previous Thor movies, I am definitely liking what I see. Check it out, then continue reading on for my thoughts.



From what I can gather from this trailer, Hela (Cate Blanchett), who is basically Asgard's version of the devil comes a calling, and wreaks some serious havoc on Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and his homeland. She is probably able to do this since Odin (Anthony Hopkins) went missing after the events of the last Thor movie.





Hela looks to destroy Asgard and Thor's hammer Mjolnir then sends Thor into exile on the planet Sakaar where he is captured by the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum).




Grandmaster seems to be running some type of battle arena pitting the most powerful of combatants against one another. Thor is given a completely new look that includes short hair and new weapons, so he can compete in the Grandmaster's games. He even gets a new helmet.




The standing champion in this battle arena and Thor's opponent is an old acquaintance of Thor's, The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). Thor is happy to see his old friend until he see's that the Hulk isn't messing around.





After a huge battle ensues between the two, I am sure they eventually will come together and work to defeat Grandmaster.




After that, and this is a complete guess on my part, I am betting they will head back to Asgard along with other occupants of Sakaar and defeat Hela.



The trailer also reveals some familiar faces like Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who also has a new look. It's unclear if Loki is going to be an ally for Thor in this movie or an enemy. Is he working with Hela or maybe even The Grandmaster?



Heimdall (Idris Elba) is back as well, probably making a last stand against Hela.



We also get our first look at the Executioner/Skurge (Karl Urban). Though I have no idea why he is shooting an M-16 earth weapon.



This trailer has me excited for the movie. I thought the last two Thor movies were decent movies but not great, and this trailer has me thinking this third movie could be the best of the bunch. Look for it to hit theaters on November 3, 2017.
