Marvel Studio's Avengers: Infinity War brought in $39 million domestically for it's Thursday evening preview screenings. This marks the best Thursday evening take for any superhero movie and the fourth biggest of all-time.
The previous superhero movie to hold the domestic preview night opening was DC's The Dark Knight which brought in $30.6 million, followed by Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice which brought in $27.7 million.
For all time, the title holder remains Disney's other major franchise Star Wars. The Force Awakens is number 1 with a domestic preview night take of $57 million followed by last years Star Wars: The Last Jedi with $45 million.
In the US, Infinity War is on track to bring in at least $225 million by Sunday and could possibly beat Force Awakens' $248 million which would make it the all-time weekend opening record holder in the US. Globally Infinity War could bring in $500 million this weekend.
