Deadline is reporting that Zosia Mamet has signed on for S.J. Clarkson’s Sony Pictures film Madame Web, based on the Marvel comics by writer Denny O’Neil and artist John Romita Jr.
Mamet joins an ensemble cast of Dakota Johnson, including Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, and Adam Scott.
Madame Web is the next entry and first female character to be developed within the Sony Pictures Universe Universe of Marvel characters. Depicted in the comics as an elderly woman suffering from the autoimmune disorder myasthenia gravis, who is therefore connected to a life-support system resembling a spider web, Madame Web is a clairvoyant whose psychic abilities allow her to see within the spider world.
Marvel did not disclose details as to whom Mamet would play. The film is set to be released on October 6th, 2023 from a script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, with Kerem Sanga penning an earlier draft.
Mamet is credited with HBO Max's series, The Flight Attendant, and HBO Max's series, Girls.
Seems like they are literally just throwing darts at pictures of actresses faces at this point.
I have no idea what this movie is going to be. Im not a big fan of Zosias acting as I feel it always comes off as very mannered and affected, and never feels natural, but that can work in the right roles.
Interesting. I'm in a clinical trial for a drug for my autoimmune disease that was first approved for Myasthenia Gravis.
I really want to hope this will be an unexpected surprise and not some disaster that will be meme'd to death.
