Screenwriter Michael Lesslie In Talks With Marvel Studios Over New X-Men Movie

by Outsiders
May 21, 2024
Deadline has announced that Marvel Studios is currently working on a new live-action X-Men film, with Michael Lesslie, the writer of Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes, in talks to write the script. This project is in its initial stages, lacking any cast or director, and without a scheduled release date. The movie will be produced by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

Despite Lesslie's official involvement, it will take some time before the movie is released in theaters as the production team will now search for a director to supervise the development alongside Feige and Lesslie.

Lesslie wasn't the only writer for Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. He cowrote that with Michael Arndt. He also cowrote the Assassins Creed movie and the Macbeth adaptation starring Michael Fassbender.

Ugghhh. Why why why Disney. That was not a good movie. And I really tried to like it as a massive Hunger Games fan. Not only was it boring but it was convoluted and all out soulless. What has this guy done to deserve Marvel's best hope to get the MCU back on track? Already this is looking like another massive failure. I'm so disappointed.
