20th Century Fox is looking to launch two new Marvel based series for TV based on X-Men related characters. The first show would be for the Fox network and would be tentatively called the Hellfire Club while the second series would head for the FX network and be based on the X-Men character Legion who is also the son (at least in the comics) to Professor X.
Hellfire will be written by Star Trek 3 scribes Patrick McKay and JD Payne and will follow a young agent who learns that a power-hungry woman with extraordinary abilities is working with a clandestine society of millionaires – known as 'The Hellfire Club' – to take over the world.
Noah Hawley (Fargo) will write the pilot for Legion which follows David Haller, a troubled young man who may be more than human. Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he's confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.
Bryan Singer (X-Men: Days of Future Past) will be an executive producer for both shows. No word on release dates for either show as of yet or if either show will be part of the same X-Men Movie Universe seen on the big screen.
